Big challenge here for us, there is a lot of talk about Meath at the moment suggesting they are on the way back to the glory days. I know it’s few weeks away yet but might as well get the ball rolling here

Division 2 final on the box @5 on TnaG, for those of you not going to hurling games today. They are flying it and should have beaten Donegal only for a mistake from the keeper. I don’t think that Donegal had Murphy that day though.
Coverage starts @2:30, so I presume that the division 4 final is @3. We have a bit of interest in both games.

What is the best Offaly 15 out of the players who are in on the panel?

How and why did this game get fixed for Navan?

Have we entered a home and away arrangement with Meath?

Also it’s hardly fit for purpose with a crumbling “stand” and two grass bank terraces behind each goal. Which interestingly enough had to be removed out of both OCP and SBP but are ok for Meath???

I believe that there’s a Home-Away agreement. I think I read it a while back.
Navan is a right kip alright.

1 Dunican is the preferred keeper.
2 Hogan
3 Rigney
4 Dempsey
5 O’Connor (if fit)
6 McConway
7 Donohue
8 Carroll
9 Moloney
10 Horan
11 Cunningham
12 Darby
13 Allen
14 McNamee (Niall)
15 Sullivan

Obviously that could be re-jigged. Moloney could be CHB. Donohue could be WF, etc

Yes, it's mad to think that we have to go and play a championship fixture in a ground with grassy hills, a cowshed for a stand and an asbestos roof on it.

In fairness to both Meath & Kildare, they went down the road of centres of excellence years ago, forgoing any development work on their county grounds to give their county teams the best training facilities. Now they are both in the planning for re-develping their grounds. Offaly and Laois did it the other way around. A big show-piece inTullamore and Portlaoise for ages and only now have facitities to develop and train young talent.

Does it work? Do they just have better players, or more to pick from? :?

Some good news. Maughan was spotted on a bike at the weekend. I presume he's getting the legs ready for 6 weeks time. Am I the only one that thinks that Maughan donning the famous shorts on the sideline for this game would be worth a 3 point start to Offaly?

Only if he breaks out the bottle of tan then maybe yeah you could be onto something.

After eleven years away from the game, John Maughan will make his inter-county championship return as manager on Sunday week when his Offaly side take on Meath in Navan. Maybe Maughan will don the bainisteoir's bib-no t-shirt look as he did in his last game against the Royals at Pairc Tailteann (2006 All-Ireland SFC qualifier, while in charge of Roscommon).

I’d like to think that Carrolls would commission one for him, wouldn’t you?
