Context is everything. This was a third string Dublin side so we were by far more experienced. That said, we had a couple of u21 lads too who acquitted themselves very well.

That said, it was an impressive performance from our lads. Everyone worked very hard and most of our lads looked fairly fit. In fact we looked stronger as the game went on. Got in couple of minutes late but this is my read on it

Started well before Dublin took over and looked better team through first half. Full back line struggled but was shored up big time when Paul McConway came in.

From then on brady was excellent, as good as I've seen him play for the county and looked fit. Pender in other corner is a serious athlete and contributed a lot getting out of defence but needs to back himself more when he gets forward

Cian Donohoe at centre back excellent on Basquel. While he started well, and scored lot from frees, Donohue edged the battle. Hogan and demsey worked hard on the wings. Dempsey for a young lad did well defensively and got on plenty of ball and will grow into it in time with more confidence. Replaced by O'Dea for last ten minutes, who also did fairly well.

Nally put in huge shift in midfield and covered acres of ground. Dunne replaced at half time did well on high ball but might have struggled with the race of Dublin. Joe O Connor added to middle of field and got good score but struggled for fitness in last few minutes

Hayes at wing forward was excellent throughout and covered up and down the pitch and was constructive on the ball getting a good score. With game on line near end he got back and fielded a ball on our 21 before linking the play and working it out. For such an inexperienced lad, early season signs could make him a contender to start come championship.

Anton looked to be in as good physical shape as I've seen him. He showed leadership throughout and worked himself into the ground. His only flaw decision making hurt us a little at times in trying to make the hard pass or hold onto ball needlessly and if we hadn't had the needless turnovers, we'd have probably won the game. Had few chances near end too and came close hitting the post. 10 out of 10 for effort though.

Brazil subbed early, possibly due to injury.

Of Inside line, panda was quietest. Could have had goal but was pulled down when pulling the trigger

Doyle lively and showed well throughout.

Johnson. I have reservations about throwing young lads in when not ready physically. After tonight, no fear about this lad. He still needs to add few pounds and develop physique but he really troubled Dublin with his movement and quick feet getting lot of scores from play. Would be looking to hold him back a bit but definitely one for future.

Nigel dunne came in on first half too. For his experience he kept ball well but couldn't help but think he was slowing down our play holding on to the ball when we were set to go through them on a counter attack. If he released the ball a bit earlier, there were definite scoring chances on.

McNamee too added energy around middle when legs were on the wane.

Overall, I loved the positive approach where they tried to get heads up and go at Dublin. Far from being overly positive but hopefully some of our injured lads will look to get back in shape ASAP as I think from what I saw this evening, things are looking up.

Should Johnson stay with the u20s or seniors?

I could be wrong but I think the rule is that if he is named on senior championship 26 for any game he is then ineligible for u20. As far as I know he is under 19 so has two years at u20. I would be inclined to look at him in league and see where he is. If there are 3 or 4 other inside forwards who are "ready" then I'd keep with seniors for strength and fitness benefits but leave him out of 26 to play u20 and pull him up in 2019 as an u20.

From what I know, some of your inside forwards currently on panel include Sean Doyle, Bernard Allen, Nigel Dunne, Shane Tierney and possibly Anton Sullivan! It's a management call really but I wouldn't have him sitting on senior bench at expense of playing u20!

That is excluding Ken Casey who will hopefully also become an option

Looks like Wallace has got things going in the right direction. This is coming from both in and outside the camp.

Exactly what was needed and a great call by county board. I know they get a lot of things wrong but have to give credit where it is due.

Only December but it's a long time since we had a chance to qualify in the O'Byrne cup and get a chance of an extra game.

We only appear to have a panel of about 24, that including 3 keepers. This seems like a small panel to me? Is there more than Maloney Carroll Chunningham and Rigney injured? I would have taught they would have been not in the 30 man panel and other lads given a chance until they returned.

Is Jack Walsh from Gracefield on the panel?

I know that Darragh Corbett, along with Callum Boland are currently playing with Buccaneers, due to my passing interest in the AIL.
I hope Colm Doyle joins up.
I don’t think that Maher is better than what’s in there.
Jamie Evans will hardly get called up after the grilling Corrigan gave him in the Tribune.(Div 4 League Final V Erin Rovers)

All them lads listed above would add something certainly. Boland was a super talent at underage, probably one of the best of his age cohort. If he was from Rhode he'd have chosen football and be one of our main guys. Same with Corbett who would be an addition.

Ruairi Allen from Gracefield to me is a huge loss. He is a big physical unit who can play ball and had excellent county championship this year. Walsh and Evans from Gracefield too are plenty good enough for panel and still only 20 or 21. Heard Doyle is injured so he could come into reckoning yet down the line.

Niall Darby not featured yet, assume he is back. Others worth consideration who would add something would be hurler Oisin Kelly from Belmont while Cathal Mangan from St Vincents would be big addition if he was there.

All in all, these lads along with injured and likes of Guilfoyle if he returned would make a very strong panel and a good team. Most of these lads have been very competitive at underage and with more coming through at u20 level, this management who seem to be doing things the right way can bring the senior team on a lot with continued buy in from all players (current and returnees).

I’m sure Corbett would go in if asked in, and pack in the rugby.
Agree on Allen.

Imagine the panel, never mind team we'd have if lads committed, didn’t travel, etc.

He’s with the u20s I think. Same age as Johnson
