I dont believe Junior ( Senior B & Inter) Club lads are all ignored.

I remember a hell of a midfielder from a then Junior hurling club, J Kelly !!!

Back in 59 2 lads from the north west Offaly junior club (Officially South Offaly) formed 2/3 of the County Senior full back line Sean Ryan at 2 & Johnny Egan at 4 and the full back was also fro a then Junior club Cloghan's Greg Hughes..

It was stated earlier in this discussion that 7 ( or was it 10) lads from Junior clubs played Senior Football for Offaly this year.

Sure there are and were lads who looked good in club action but they dont all make county men.

So this is a pretty pointless discussion..

Now for anyone who feels their club has a lad up to county and not yet called in just get your club Chairperson or Sec to give the County Manager a call and I WOULD EXPECT THEY WILL GIVE LADS A CHANCE

Maybe go to senior B, intermediate and junior games yourself. Also our u20s county team.

From that team that are no longer going to be in that grade next year, I was most impressed by Robilliard, Quinn and Hynes.
Possibly the keeper, name eludes me?

Johnson and Farrell are still u20 next year.
From U 20, I saw both the Semi final and game V Westmeath and for me, our outstanding player at that level by a country mile was Conor Dunne from St Vincents who should be brought straight into senior panel - well good enough to start too. Very good at rugby by all accounts and has played underage at international level.

There was a lot of hullabaloo about some of our forwards at this level who didnt do it when it mattered and were largely anonymous against Kildare. Agree also regarding the 3 listed above (Robilliard, Hynes and Quinn) and thought Tullamore man was also very good v Rhode in semi final. I'd also add Kyle Higgins to the list as I reckon he might need a bit of time but has the potential to be an Offaly senior player in a year or two. The county final will give us an idea of where he is.

From inter final today, you would have to be also considering Johnny O Toole Greene who was outstanding for Shamrocks. Still very young at 22 or 23, he should be in around one of the senior panels at least - hurling or football!

Certainly not a definitive list, but hurlers that haven’t been involved, either recently or ever before, that merit inclusion in a Winter training regime, to earn a place in a league panel or to drive them on to the next level.. I tried to avoid older players who if they weren’t going to make an immediate impact would be merely taking the place of young talent with potential
Coolderry: Kevin Connolly, Stephen Burke, Stephen Connolly, Conor Molloy
K/K: Ciaran Slevin, Dylan Murray, Stephen Leonard
Rynaghs: Joey O’Connor (if available is an ideal ball carrier for League hurling on bad ground), Sean Dolan, Eoin Woods
Birr: Dylan Quegan, Oisin Murphy, Craig Taylor
Shinrone: Conor Doughan, Dan Doughan, JP Cleary, Sean Cleary, Michael Cleary,
Belmont: David Nally
Clareen: Sean Coughlan, Adrian Hynes
Kinnitty: Paddy Rigney, Eoghan Callaghan
Ballinamere: Dave Magner, Jack Fogarty, Ciaran Burke, Gerry Spollen (Give Duignan and Ravenhill time- they’re only sitting the leaving)
Shamrocks: Johnny O’Toole Greene, Cathal O’Brien
Clodiagh Gaels: Joey Keenaghan, Conor Langton
Tullamore: Gareth Mann, Gerry Crowe
Lusmagh: Graham Lynch, Eimhin Kelly
Drumcullen: Podge Guinan
C&R: Conor Freeman, Aidan King
Clara: Cathal O’Meara
Crinkill: Oisin Corboy
I would have included Chris McDonald of Brosna Gaels however I assume there was a reason he wasn’t kept on last year?

From the football final I was not impressed by Kyle Higgins but there were 2 forwards on show I would like to see added to the panel: Joe Maher and the lad wearing 15 for Rhode. Excellent player and kicked a heap of great points. Any chance of him being available ?

Having seen the new management team lineup, I doubt Maher will be on it, having heard a few stories from various people.

I think Jack Cullinan is worth a look at in goals. Recovered well from a couple of bad kick outs early on and overall his kicks were excellent. Great deliveries to Oisin Kelly who was the stand out midfielder yesterday and a great save in the first half to keep Ferbane in it.

Anyone know of who has been added to the hurling panel?
Kevin Connolly?
David Nally?

I heard David Nally has been called in and Kevin Connolly got called in. Around the time Kevin Connolly scored 0-7 against MLR I heard Joe Troy on the radio and I’m nearly sure I heard that Kevin Connolly might not be able to commit to Offaly. Things may have changed I’m not sure.

So were 6 days out from the opener against Laois. Eddie Brennan had called 40 players to a meeting in Laois. Kevin Martin has not got everyone back in yet from last year and some will not be coming back for one reason or another. Is there any rumblings of who is in the Offaly panel at present ahead of the start of the Walsh Cup? Liam and Conor Langton are in aswell as Joey Keenaghan from Clodiagh Gaels.

According to Pat Nolan on Twitter, Offaly have signed a footballer. Could it be Tomás Connor, or perhaps Shane Horan of Kilmacud Crokes, a descendant of Ballycumber?

We’re getting our business done early on in the transfer window.

Shane Horan it is. Good footballer. An improvement anyway. Was in the Dublin club all star team that included current Dublin players.

The link doesn’t work, but it’s clearly stated in the picture

Fairplay to Maughan, that’s a good coup. I wonder is there any other footballers outside the county he can get on the parent rule?

Tomás Connor, Daniel Flynn, Pádraig Hampsey and James McCarthy would be nice.
