it dont matter a shite what way offaly teams play anymore,attacking or defensive.the main issue is at board level.is it any wonder that managers and players alike seem so docile on the field of play in recent years,when they see whats running the show at the top.never mind seeking new managers,how about seeking new direction with a radical overhaul of the top table.I am very very surprised that there dont seem to be an overwhelming call from high profile former players and so on for the board to step aside.Jaysus offaly people were always passionate for their county,that seems to be lost too.There should be a mass protest organised to oust these ego seekers.Offaly interest at heart my arse.

It actually wouldn't be hard to oust most of them, if there was anyone willing to take it up. Unfortunately, even when positions come vacant under the five year rule, it's hard to fill them.

Wasn't Damien Martin part of the hurling review committee that resigned? Is he still on the executive?

I agree but that was always the case ,good players and good team can adapt to the situation on the field .

Rory Hanniffy who recently retired from Offaly senior hurling,
David Kenny who missed the last couple of season with Offaly due to injury and is a secondary school teacher in St Brendan’s Community School,
Ger Scales from St Rynagh’s who is also a Secondary school teacher in Kilcormac,
current Offaly Camogie star Marian Crean and Mary Wyer, both of whom are primary teachers
former Offaly All-Ireland winning medallist Cillian Farrell who is a qualified Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Damien Martin is the Irish Cultural Officer and sits on he Executive. Damien is not on the Hurling Review Committee, or the Implementation Committee.

The Review Committee is charged with reviewing the team managements at Minor, U21 and Senior, and consist of Tommy Byrne and Éamonn Cucack, and Pat Felury, Martin Cashen and Brian Gavin.

This is the thing. And the Offaly underage process is not fit for purpose regarding that adaptability. How could it? No S&C, no proper fitness tests, no proper skills tests. Doubts over the quality of the Level 1 and Award 2 coaching courses in Offaly. It's a nightmare.
Instead, put lads in a field in lines of four doing ground hurling drills. Left side, right side. Woohoo! This is gonna scare Leix and Westmeath!

Lads i agree underage is a mess . There is no plan , No joined up thinking . Some clubs like Drumcullen seem to working hard at u8 upwards .KK have 7 primary schools and im told the have almost 40 u 8 , KK are a club that seem to always put the work in at underage level but other hurling clubs are struggling for numbers or seem to have taking their eye off the ball .
Back to basics u8 have to learn to ground hurl left and right first on the run first .it will build up his wrists and skill level .
we have a massive problem at primary school level ,20 years ago guys hurled every day in school , at lunch time , after school but in most schools now there is half an hour once a week allow for hurling if its not raining .
Thats is the reason for the huge decline in hurling in some clubs . Its hard for clubs to fill that void unless someone goes in to school every lunch time to coach .Teachers dont have the love of hurling or the time to coach hurling anymore .
Teachers were the reason for the success of the Offaly teams of the 80s and 90s ,the fostered their love of the game to their students .all that was needed was to polish those skill at county level .
Birr Banagher and Kilcormac second level schools need huge attention from the cb to develop guy during their teens, as most of our future minors will come out of those 3 schools . That should not be that hard to manage as they are all within 10 miles of each other ,the should play each other regulary .
If we could ensure that those 3 schools each had a strong well coached team we could make strides again .

Top table ignored the Implementation committee for two months before the multiple resignations earlier this month
Young hurlers being overtrained, with the U15s' schedule of training and games wholly inappropriate
No sign of the €40k in Leinster Council funding that in 2017 and 2018 was to have been earmarked for development squads
As at the beginning of July, most of the Development squads had not been tested for physical fitness.
Development squad coaches are not to be paid travelling expenses. At all, at all. Tommy Byrne ruled that out.
Various members of the Implementation committee had made suggestions to the crunchie board regarding proposals for fundraising for development squads but there was not entertained.

Why have the CB not made a statement regarding the committee stepping down?
It looks so bad on them.

What a brilliant interview. It would make you laugh if it wasn't so serious. Coaches pulled up by the CB for buying fruit (their own money) for their development squad.

Heartbreaking to hear that Liam is lost to Offaly GAA and the rest of the committee presumably.
