The days of Offaly, or other small counties, competing for minor or under 21 honours are probable gone. The advancement of team preparation, budgets, S&C and the rest increases the odds of a small county getting enough good players to beat,or compete with the bigger counties is now more or less gone. I always believe if you get a group of players good enough then you can compete

every county has shown that - Donegal recently in minor football, Roscommon a few years back at U21 football

I've some knowledge of both of those teams, and rest assured that if Offaly sank the type of money into any of our underage squads that either of those got, club delegates would be dropping with heart failure on the floor of the OCP meeting room.

I'm not saying you can't compete at all, but don't ignore the amount of money in Roscommon and Donegal football at the moment.

must be why all the senior players have dropped out of their panel
too much money

are the quality of football or hurling coaches currently in the county to develop a bunch of 10 year olds through to a quality minor team in 2025?
