4 great Qfinals to look forward and there shouldn't be a whole lot in it in all games. Anyone know the draw for Junior A semi finals, I see the QFs were played at weekend.

Junior Semi Finals:

Clodiagh Gaels vs. Kinnity
Kilcormac vs. Shinrone
I think these matches are on the same weekend as the senior q-finals.

Yes, it appears the Junior semi-finals are on the same weekend as the Senior quarter-finals, as keenonsport said.

The Intermediate quarter-finals seem to be provisionally fixed for the weekend before that, on All-Ireland weekend. The Intermediate pairinigs are -
Clodiagh Gaels v Drumcullen (provisionally fixed for Saturday 03/09 at OCP at 5.30pm)*
Kilcormac-Killoughey v Carrig & Riverstown
Coolderry v Clara
Ballyskenagh-Killavilla v Brosna Gaels

*thanks to the Clodiagh Gaels twitter account for news of this provisional fixture

Gives possibilty of taking free's from Shane Dooley next year and making him contribute from play.

How many of the above players are playing for Offaly, or will be selected for 2017?

I'd say with the exception of Joe Bergin who got a few goals, Shane scored as much from play as any Offaly forward and probably more. I'm not sure why taking the frees off him would make any difference one way or another to his contribution from general play either.

I'm hugely impressed with Paddy Murphy so far this year out of that list - playing in a team that's a bit short on quality relative to the sides they're up against, and playing at midfield, he's racked up a fair amount.

Just saw the revised Master Fixture List for the rest of the year. The Senior Hurling Final will be held on Sunday October 23rd. Just what all the hurlers who passed May, June and most of July without hurling want. To be hurling the county final in the muck and shite.

Someday the county board and the fixtures committee will actually realise the state they have hurling in in this county and hang their heads in shame. 3 weeks between last group game and q-final. 3 weeks between quarter-finals and semi-finals. 3 weeks between semi-finals and final.

Just to highlight the issue here, hurling a sport best played on hard ground, will see it's senior championship final in Offaly being played as the last adult championship final in this county. I find that shocking.

I dasagree with you SearingDrive

From that list I would think that Paddy Murphy and Oisin Kelly will be certs for Offaly forward line next year, well before Joe Bergin.

Have you any stats to verify that Loneshark?
One reason would be the whole missing Shane Dooley factor, that we wont score a free and also he is no spring chicken. Brian Carroll was also an excellent free taker before Dooley was given the reins.

From the updated Master Fixtures Plan (with grateful thanks to St Rynagh’s Hurling Club for publishing the full list on their website).

Senior hurling
Quarter-finals – Saturday 10th September (2) and Sunday 11th September (2)
Semi-finals – Sunday 2nd October
Final – Sunday 23rd October (with the Minor hurling Final)
Leinster club – 5th/6th November away to Wexford

Intermediate hurling
Quarter-finals – Fri 2nd / Sat 3rd September (2) and Sunday 11th September (2)
Semi-finals – Saturday 24th September
Final – Sunday 9th October
Leinster club – 5th/6th November away to Meath or Carlow

Junior hurling
Semi-finals – Saturday 17th September
Final – Sunday 9th October

Incidentally, and this is not on the master list, there is probably scope to play the U21 Final on the weekend after next (3rd September), moreso if Carrig & Riverstown are scheduled to play their Intermediate quarter-final on 11th September. That is, or course, dependent on there being a winner in Saturday's semi-final replay.

And no mention of the Senior hurling relegation series in the master list.

OCP will look like the ploughing site by the time the senior hurling final gets to be played there if this rain keeps up. Look at the amount of games that will go in there between now and October 22.

Simple way to lessen the burden on OCP would be to play senior hurling semi-finals in Birr. The intermediate final could also be played there. Intermediate quarter-finals and semi-finals could be played in club venues. Junior A final could also be in a club venue instead of an empty OCP. Great atmosphere at a Junior A final between Edenderry and Crinkle a few years ago in Killurin.

So much for my above point. Intermediate Q-Final double headers in Birr and Tullamore.

Why the long delay between the hurling semi finals and the county final on 22nd October, that is 6 weeks?
The same for the IHC and JHC.Too long a delay in my book.
Kilkenny who are the All Ireland Final will probably have their final on that day or a week later.

Why not scrap the quarter finals and have semi finals in all adult hurling competitions, and let the bottom two teams play a relegation match?

We need to look at the time frame for our county competitions for 2017 and beyond, with a view to playing deciders earlier than at present. We are not going to play in provincial or national finals for the foreseeable future.
