The same three Offaly lads lined out for their colleges in today's Fitzgibbo Cup. Dónal Guinan lined out in defence for DIT, Pádraic Guinan was a first-half substitute for UCD, while Paul Kinsella was corner-forward for Maynooth.

Compare and contrast: Offaly's opponents in the Leinster U21 championship's first round, Kildare, had two lining out with MAynooth (Cian Forde and Niall Kenny) while Paddy McKenna was in goal for DIT.
Pat Donegan. Signed out of respect for players and all involved with Offaly.

There will be a minmal representation from Offaly on Sigurson & Fitzgibbon panels unless the Offaly Co Board requests their Under 21 & Senior Managers to release all players on third level panels from training with Offaly for the months of January & February each year. It is not possible to train with a Third Level team and a County team and be able to perform. This would actually be in the best interests of the players as they would get the benefits of top class training at their college and it would eliminate all the unnecessary driving during the worst months of the year. We have to make it easier for our younger players to play for Offaly if we are to become competitive again.
