No management in place yet but it will not be long before they are in place. 3 hurling championship teams and 2 hurling league teams and 1 football team are what is being said for the year ahead

Congrats to the members of both clubs for making the correct decision last night, great for hurling and football in this parish. Best of luck to Clodiagh Gaels in 2015, and beyond. I'm looking forward to following the new club.

Someone with local knowledge might give us the reason for the name. The Clodiagh bit, not the Gaels bit, obviously. I assume it is a river?

The River Clodiagh flows from the Slieve Blooms through the parish, and forms the boundary between Gurteen and Ballinvalley, it continues on it's way past Clonad and Killurin, eventually joining the river Brosna. There is a novel called a 'River runs through it', no connection with the new club!

What will the club colours be for the beast that has been spawned by this union?

Will the club play their games in both pitches or has one pitch been chosen as a base for all games? Two nice pitches which I always liked playing on and very well maintained.

Nothing has been decided on that aspect of it yet. I agree both pitches are always in great condition and are very well maintained.

Best of luck to Clodiagh Gaels. Serious candidates for the intermediate hurling this year.

AGM of new club last night, good attendance officers elected on a 'power sharing basis, representing both areas.

Didn't see that group at A.G.M. Maybe wearing your bookies hat,and your journalistic talent, you might give us the odds on Clodiagh Gaels for the IHC.
