UíbhFháilí.com's 10th anniversary

Post by Plain of the Herbs »

The occasion passed quietly but the discussion board of this site was 10 years live last Tuesday. On 28th October 2004 the Administrator made the first test message on the board and a new era had dawned.

On a personal level I have got to know quite a few people through this site, some of whom have become close friends. In addition, posting on the site has opened some opportunities for me that otherwise wouldn’t have presented themselves.

There have been good days, bad days, occasions to celebrate, occasions to curse, occasions to admire individual skill or bravado, occasions to point fingers at individual stupidity or short-sightedness. They wouldn't have been the same without the (generally) informed debate on the site.

Much has changed in those ten years, in terms of social media, how people obtain their information and how they interact with others. There will be profound changes over the course of the next decade but I do hope the site sticks with it.

Well done to Uibhfhaili.com on the 10 year anniversary.

Always enjoy reading especially some of the extreme views that we have.

Unfortunately the 10 years in existence has coincided with the worst 10 years of the modern era of Offaly GAA. Hopefully the next 10 may bring something to shout about

By the way I hear that the 10 year wrap party is to be held in the Pull Inn.

Highlights of the night will be a John Hogan concert, An ode to Ground Hurling and a viewing of a new Michael Moore documentary about the water metering and water charges simply titled 'Unshowered and shitting in a bucket'.

Does a wrap party not signal the end of something?
The site isnt closing down you know.
I'm having second thoughts about this party now. Michael Moore doesnt interest me. He should stick to selling cars.
Anyway, I just cannot find anything to wear.
Perhaps, it could it be a theme-party instead?
