H/S headline "Carroll says hurlers are lacking commitment"

Carroll says Offaly hurlers are lacking commitment

Brian Carroll has claimed that his Offaly team-mates aren’t committed enough.

The outspoken Coolderry forward also believes the management and county board have to shoulder some of the blame for the malaise Offaly hurling currently finds itself in.

In an in-depth interview with the Tullamore Tribune, Carroll says: “I can’t tell you what every other player is doing, apart from what I see them doing in training. At the end of the day, the unequivocal answer is no, we are obviously not doing enough because we are not getting results.

“Are the players doing enough? Most definitely not. Are the management doing enough? Most definitely not. Are the county board doing enough? Most definitely not.

“It is only when we all push for the common goal that we can move forward. We can always do better and that goes for everyone.”

He added: “The biggest issue we have in Offaly hurling at the moment is that there is no quick fix. We probably have things wrong on so many levels that it is going to take a hell of a long time, patience and money.

“It is going to take a lot of soul-searching and a lot of honesty of effort at all levels.”

I think thats the nuts and bolts rather than a direct attack on the committment of the players, he is saying what we all know. They could do better.
So could the so called supporters, club players, club coaches, club administrators, the works!!

I'd say Carroll is been taken slightly out of context. He's citing collective responsibility, which is fair enough, rather than taking potshots at teammates.

glad to see his comments are out of context , there would be notting to be gained from taking potshots from teammates. carroll had a good 2014 hurled to his potental but he needs to be carefull not to be always negetave about offaly .

i have read the article again , to be fair most of carroll comments are spot on . he claiming that some of offalys problem may be mental and referred to last years waterford game he seem to blame dan currams for the great save the keeper brough off to win the game
carroll had a nightmate that day especially while on brick walsh and should have been taken off for throwing in the towel . look in the mirror brian before u find fault with others . take the high moral ground will not help offaly hurling

it was Baker who made a balls of that waterford game last year, he put Carroll in centre forward and moved Mahon to midfield who was having a good game on brick, Carroll was doing well out the field and had scored a few points it was the turning of that game. thats Carroll and Niall Mac that have both lash the county board in the last two weeks.
