Young parents with limited finances and a young family looking to introduce their children to organisation that will give them an outlet to socialise and expend their energies will read your endearing comments with considerable disdain.

Dont know what I have said that could offend someone in that bracket?
If they want their kids to play, brilliant, there has never been a better time to have a kid starting to play gaelic football, (dont know about hurling).
In our club there is now a nursery catering for 4 yr olds up, Go Games for U8s and training twice a week, and winter activities indoors for the children.

Just for the record, these parents can, 1)Pay €10 registration, and simply support a couple of fundraisers designed to be cheap family entertainment, buy a pair of boots, gloves and gumshield, (€50 in total), or.....join Tullamore RFC for €60 membership per child, or soccer for approx €100 (including paying refs etc).
The parent could help marshall a fundraising walk or run, make a few sambos, help out to coach, car pool to help bring their kids training, hell.... damn it .....even go out and help their children to practice.

But no .....in many cases, many of these parents just drop the kids and run, afraid they might be asked to do anything, and shur aren't the lads great to do it. Past players are often the biggest culprits.

Look KK, I might be turning cynical in my "advancing years", but there is so much wrong at club level that needs to be fixed that wouldnt cost money, but would involve everyone doing a little extra, (or even a little).
Similarly with DEvelopment squads, club and school players, if there was a good plan put in place to help develop these areas through coaches signing up for clubs and putting themselves in the firing line through doing the basic courses to educate themselves to educate the players.

Plus- if you cant do this, then ask, can you help out with your club as part of committee, or a offer to take on the role as club delegate and outline your reasons why, (that you want to help effect change in the way the county is being run), PRO position, Youth Officer, Fund raising ....you name it the options are huge. You could offer to be a link between the club and the school if you are a parent, and seek some advice for what should be implemented with Liam Reilly/Alan Mul on football, John Leahy on hurling......


Jayz KK dont get me started.....What was your point?? Sadly I am a cash strapped parent who has kids involved playing, and as I cant afford a social life, I help to deliver a lot for all the kids in the area....and you know what, it costs nothing only a bit of time and desire to work at it.

Bit sad to be commenting on Regans son playing rugby with Leinster????
Has the ban come back in? There is no obligation on Regans son to play hurling, (feck it Shane Lowry should have been hurling, imagine all the sideline cuts he could put over.)

True it is a problem that other sports have hit the GAA, but until we take them on , and personally I think it is a phase, (Go Games really ensure that we now are looking after our kids better)

These are tough times for Offaly now and we're a little bit under siege. There is a queue of folks putting the boot in, informing us how we should be in Division 2A and the Christy Ring Cup. There is an extra backlash since we 'ruined' the much anticipated Sky Sports debut.
We're not in a great place, but we're not that bad either. Take on Kilkenny next week with the line up and positioning that finished the game on Saturday and we'd easily shave a dozen points off the deficit.

A lot of pride can be restored the next day out!

would most people agree that ger loughnane was out of order to publicly slate j bergin and s dooley .
both lads are struggling with their form at the moment.
its rubbish to say the dont have the power for modern day hurling when bergin throw p murphy aside last year to score his second goal and i saw dooley powering pass ollie canning a few years ago and scoring a great goal and there only two examples .i think the managment game plan is too negative and has affected bergin and dooley and also d currams.
all 3 lads thrive on fast early ball

neither seem happy in the current set up but both are really talent guys and have given great service to us.
their not payed and give up their time when offaly are going backwards it can be easy.
ger had really bad days with clare so he should know better .
how many times have bergin and dooley play massive games over the years .

i know both lads will find the form again .
saturday was hard on them.
look at tommy walsh he seem to be struggling to find his best form .
there all human
that kilkenny team will take some beating this year and if the play like that against galway . they will win easily
we set the team up all wrong .i think we went out to play nice hurling with a hurling full back centre back centre forward and full forward .we finished with a better team maybe we will retire the sweeper system now.
