Leinster Under 21 Football
Re: Leinster Under 21 Football
Great to get another step further.
Well done to all involved!!
We won't be coming in under anyone's radar from here forward, but that won't do any harm.
One game at a time.

Re: Leinster Under 21 Football
I had a pep in my step leaving Athy the other night. Any time Kildare are beaten, especially over on my side of the County, is a very good day.
Aside from that the performance was exceptional. Playing against a side with a clear physical advantage Offaly took to the task with vigour. Forceful and more importantly accurate tackling allowed Offaly to withstand fierce pressure in stages of the game when Kildare had their busy periods. This negated their scoring threat. Offaly broke with real pace and hit long diagonal balls either into space or to an Offaly jersey, which resulted in opportunities.
The battle in midfield was won with most of the breaks been snapped up by a hungry half back and half forward line.
All positive stuff from a side who show no fear, and inspirational battling qualities - something which, if anything, Offaly have always been known for. The management had the team set up correctly and the subs sent in added value to the game, none more so than Ruari McNamee who showed excellent spatial awareness and didnt waste one ball that i saw.
It makes me wonder what is the situation within the Senior camp, when our Under 21's with the same management are pulling out performances like this.
I look forward to the Semi Final.
I noticed grassy banks in Athy the other night also!
No access to them as far as i could see - maybe Pairc Gras could do something similar.

I've heard people mention that they feel Gracefield has gotten a raw deal, considering what other counties are getting away with facilities wise.True Red wrote: I noticed grassy banks in Athy the other night also!

Re: Leinster Under 21 Football
We are getting a raw deal in Gracefield, been in navan and new Ross in recent weeks, yet there are no issues with grass banks in those fields, different rules for different counties.
pull hard on your man, he's no relation
Re: Leinster Under 21 Football
and our county board will do nothing for the cause just bend over a take it up the a..e like they always do
Re: Leinster Under 21 Football
its meath so they beat Louth 1-13 to 0-10 tonights replay.
Re: Leinster Under 21 Football
Excellent news for the U-21s with Meath's Eamonn Wallace out for the Leinster semi final. Unfortunately for him, it is a cruciate ligament injury and he is out for the rest of the year. Another high profile case following the Gooch and Kilkenny and a worrying trend. Did no one ever get a ACL injury in the GAA in the 20th century?

I wonder will McDonnell rest Carroll, Cunningham, Maher et al. for Wednesday. It is a huge chance to reach a Leinster final.

At worst, it's a tight pitch that gets overused.
Offaly's history in the venue should have absolutely nothing to do with result. Unless of course people keep informing our players it's a graveyard and it dents their confidence!

Absolutely wish them best of luck too, but what do you mean by referring to Parnell Park as a graveyard?

Re: Leinster Under 21 Football
if you look at our results down the years there in both codes we get it very hard to win there,
