Beat Leitrim 2-19 to 2-11 this evening, 1 pt defeat to Kildare has left us finish 2nd, so looks like we play in the shield final.
Well done to John Hughes and the lads, going along nicely at this level.

An excellent performance from this group again last night to beat Sligo by 3-7 to 0-10 in the final of the Shield competition. It wasn't anything like as dominant as the displays against Roscommon or Leitrim, but they started out with two goals in the first three minutes - one lucky, one very well worked - and despite struggling to come to terms with Sligo's height and ball-winning around the middle, they held their opponents off for the remainder of the tie. A well worked goal for Seán Farrell effectively settled the tie, though overall my biggest praise on this occasion would be reserved for the full back line led by Eoin Dunne, who did very well to repel a series of Sligo attacks and deny their opponents the goal chance that could have changed the game.

Westmeath easily beat Kildare in the Cup final, where Kildare's dismal shooting meant that the tie was effectively over at half time. Westmeath led 1-5 to 0-0 at that stage, and Kildare had shot nine first half wides and dropped two efforts short and into the keepers' hands. Final score 2-9 to 1-2.
Kevin Egan. Signed out of respect for players and all involved with Offaly.
