Post by Lone Shark »

2012 LEINSTER U21 FC DRAW: Wexford or Dublin v Laois, Wicklow or Carlow v Westmeath, Kilkenny or Louth v Longford, Offaly or Meath v Kildare.

2012 LEINSTER U21 HC DRAW: Offaly or Wexford v Kilkenny, Laois or Dublin v Carlow.

2012 LEINSTER MFC DRAW: Kilkenny v Offaly, Louth v Westmeath, Longford v Meath, Wicklow v Laois, Carlow v Dublin, Kildare v Wexford. (The respective losers of the first round matches play off, followed by an open draw).

2012 LEINSTER MHC DRAW: Westmeath v Laois, Wexford v Offaly. (The respective winners will be drawn to face Dublin and Kilkenny).

Nothing easy about that draw for the under-21 footballers, though at least they'll be at home, while the under 21 hurlers won't get anything easy either. That said, a game against Wexford is a lot better than starting out fresh against Kilkenny or Dublin.

Minor hurlers will be underdogs, though I'll be interested to see if the home and away thing kicks in after having to go down there this year?

Worst possible draw for the minor footballers. The one game in Leinster you'd get over losing is the first one, and you definitely want to learn something about your players in the first round. It means we'll be playing a quarter final against a team that has won a good game previously, and that won't be easy. They introduced the current system in 2006 - Westmeath beat Kilkenny and then scraped by Carlow before being knocked out that year. Laois won Leinster from playing Kilkenny in the first round in 2007, but only after playing their worst game of the campaign next time out against Dublin, and drawing with them. Since then Wexford (twice) and Meath have played Kilkenny in the first round and been knocked out next time out.
Kevin Egan. Signed out of respect for players and all involved with Offaly.
