match down there. he told him he set out at 7 o'clock that morning to make it to the match that takes some doing or love for the game fair play to him.

Oceans 15 wrote:He hates Westmeath.... I seen him on TV about 6/7 years ( maybe more) ago he was behind the goals in Pearse Park in Longford when W/meath were playing Longford in the Championship decked out in his Offaly Jersey. He was going mad clapping anytime Longford scored.

I met him on the street in Tullamore a week later and said to him jaysus you were doing some shouting for Longford I seen you on the TV....his reply was............."fookin sure" :P :P

Just to clarify.
The aforementioned Michael 'Smokey' McDonagh is indeed a Galway man.
He is a Traveller, but is now settled.
With this in mind it's no surprise that he manages to get to everywhich game concerning the Faithful county and more to boot.
This type of instinct is embroiled within his very DNA and its testament to the mans sheer will to support his (adopted) home.
Anytime I see him a few words concerning the state of affairs in Offaly GAA,are exchanged and he's always keen to discuss these matters in great depth.
As a point of banter,if and when you do see him,a friendly quip about hime being a Tribesman will indeed stoke some debate, although he vehemently denies being from the Wesht.
Long may his unstinting support continue.
Many in the Faithful county could do with adopting some of his enthusiasm.

Allez Smokey!

Was that our friend in Thurles today at the league semis? Just after the Clare/Kilkenny game started an almighty shower struck and everyone on the town end terrace dashed for cover to the stand. Everyone that is except Man in Offaly jersey who stood behind the goals oblivious to the elements. Hardy Buck!

I'm sure you all spotted him last week in porlaoise when the cats gave a lesson to the dubs, but what really impressed me was seeing him on the Sunday game last night when they showed the clip from the Tipp Clare camogie match in thurles and he was in at it making sure not to miss any of the action later on
