Man in Offaly jersey

Does anyone know who the man with the Offaly jersey is that was at the two matches in Portlaoise today. I suspect that this man is the same man that stands on the Hill in Croker during matches not featuring any Offaly teams. He also seems to be in OCP for any championship match. He always has the Offaly jersey on but never a jumper or jacket even on hardy days. Is he on this website?

McDonagh (i think Martin is his first name) is his name he does be at almost every match Offaly play and always behind the goals aswell.I would doubt he is on this website to be honest.I remember talking to him last year at the train station before teh AI club finals and he said he has thumbed a lift to the league match up in Sligo the week before.

Mick 'Smokey' McDonagh is the man.
They should name the terrace behind the far goals in O'Connor Park after him btw.

Mick McDonagh is a legend, a perfect example was a few years ago when we played Donegal in Ballyshannon in a league game, he thumbed a lift from Athleague after our hurlers played Roscommon in a Div 2 game on the Saturday, he spent the night in a haybarn just outside Ballyshannon town on that same Saturday night and was first man at the ground the following day, also his facts and figures on each county is unbelievable. This guy is a real supporter.

This man is what GAA is all about.

has to be the best gaa supporter in ireland.
Remember him telling me when we play sligo away last year that he thumb 3 lifts, a bus, and a train(and that was just to get to sligo)

Legend and That's putting it mildly!

He also seems to be at every other match in the country. I swear he does be up in the Hill for the AI quarters and semis. Also he must be at nealy every Leinster championship game when Offaly aren't playing. Seems like a right character alright. Does he live in town

Is he the guy in one of Snoop Dogg's videos too?

I'm sure he has a video where there are loads of people dancing by a pool and there's a glimpse of an Offaly jersey.
Sure who else could it be? Its either him or Barack Obama.....

Yep Mick is a Blue alright although I think he might have original family connections in Westmeath If I'm not mistaken, ya wouldn't get a more gentle soul in the 32 counties :)

He hates Westmeath.... I seen him on TV about 6/7 years ( maybe more) ago he was behind the goals in Pearse Park in Longford when W/meath were playing Longford in the Championship decked out in his Offaly Jersey. He was going mad clapping anytime Longford scored.

I met him on the street in Tullamore a week later and said to him jaysus you were doing some shouting for Longford I seen you on the TV....his reply was............."fookin sure" :P :P

Yes he is a real die hard. A man that just loves the GAA, never misses an Offaly game and can be spotted at many other games around the country not involving Offaly but sporting his green white and gold proudly. I never forgot seeing him at a Walsh cup game in Parnell park. He was one of about 5 Offaly supporters there that day on one of the coldest most miserable winter days. And he wearing his Offaly jersey. He must have been frozen.

I'll just throw it out there and say it would be well deserved if the county board awarded him with a season ticket and even a bit of decent Offaly gear like a fleece and a rain jacket. It would be a small gesture for his huge loyalty to not only his county but to our countries great games.

Now that's a cause worth getting behind, anyone have any idea's how this might happen?

Occasionally after a defeat when the players are doing their warm down, he'll go out onto the pitch and give them a few words of encouragement.

Maybe somebody here might have a contact on the county board that could put it forward.
