Offaly's Croke Park experience

Postby Plain of the Herbs » Tue Jun 15, 2010 8:37 pm

Time was when Croke Park was home to Offaly hurling, when almost all Offaly matches were played there. Different times, and on Sunday Offaly will hurl in Headquarters for the first time in five years. Some Offaly panellists have never played there while some have only played at underage, or for Birr in All-Ireland Club finals. Almost half the panel named for the Antrim match have never hurled in Croke Park. Here’s an analysis of Offaly’s Croke Park experience:

Brian Mullins – 6 c’ship apps since 2003, Leinster Minor final 1995, Club finals in 1998, 2003 & 2008.
David Franks – 10 c’ship apps since 2000.
Paul Cleary – made c’ship debut as sub in 2005 meltdown, also 2005 v Antrim (sub), Leinster minor final 2003 & 2008 club final.
Michael Verney – 2008 Club final.
James Rigney – none
David Kenny - none
Derek Morkan – nope
Rory Hanniffy – 7 c’ship apps since 2001, Leinster Minor final & AISF 2000, Club finals in 2003 & 2008.
Kevin Brady – Played v Dublin 2004 (sub), Kilk & Antrim in 2005.
Daniel Currams – played in Leinster Minor football final in 2006.
Joe Brady – 7 c’ship apps since 2001, Leinster Minor final & AISF 2000.
Derek Molloy – 2003 Leinster Minor final.
Brian Carroll – 6 c’ship apps since 2001, Leinster Minor final & AISF 2000.
Joseph Bergin – 2003 Leinster Minor final.
Shane Dooley – No, unless he came on in 2003 Minor final (?).
James Dempsey – None.
Stephen Egan – None.
Dylan Hayden – Played v Wexford 2004 (sub) & Kilk in 2005, All-ireland Minor semi final 2000, Leinster Minor final 2003 & Club finals in 2003 (sub) & 2008.
Brendan Murphy – 11 c’ship apps since 2000.
Cathal Parlon – made c’ship debut as sub in 2005 meltdown, also Leinster Minor final 2003 (sub).
Michael Cordial – 6 c’ship apps since 2003.
Ger Healion – None.
Shane Kelly – None.
Stephen Wynne – None.
Éanna Murphy – None.
Ódhrán Kealey - None.
Fergal Daly – None.
James Mulrooney – None.
Eoin Kelly – None.
Ger Oakley - 16 c’ship apps since 1997.

Feel free to reply if there are any omissions in the above. Some of the Tullamore lads or Fergal Daly might have played Minor football there. I've left out appearances in the mini-sevens!
Pat Donegan. Signed out of respect for players and all involved with Offaly.
