New GAA playing rules

Postby Offaly2010 » Mon May 17, 2010 9:57 pm

I was at an u-16 match tonight and I couldn't believe that the new playing rules came into effect in an underage match. I'm not going to say who was playing or who was the referee but straight from the throw in a midfielder from one of the teams gave a hand pass that would have been allowed under the old rules, pulled up because there wasn't a clear striking action.

The referee also maid it perfectly clear that sidelines had to be taken from outside the line and all kickouts had to be taken from the 13m line.

Seeing as these rules only came into effect in senior inter-county football yesterday it was hard to believe that they were coming into effect in underage football this early.
