County board - football

Post by juteman »

The county board have to take responsibility for the failure of a group of talented players to underachieve in 2 games they could have and should have won.
They need to look at the overall picture...
-we have a group of good talented players with maybe 2 weak areas
-these guys have pride & do not want to be associated/remembered with the lowest point in recent Offaly GAA history.
-in the past 5-7 years we have been exceptionally close in terms of a
Leinster title though we lost in early rounds
-if we had won a Leinster title 2-5 yrs ago & with the right manager we could be top 6 now.
-players do not believe in themselves or in what they are doing
-apart from the wides the 1st half performance against Laois was a good intelligent footballing performance capable of being repeated consistently not once off.

All any supporter (or player) wants is for the team to perform to the max. of its ability for 70(+) minutes. When your team does this and is still beaten there is a certain acceptance and understanding by all.

Considering this and mindful of what someone in the line Pat Roe or Liam Hayes (or Paidi/Micko) could do with this panel, we are probably in the same position we were at in the mid-nineties.

It is never wrong to correct a mistake which Kevin Kilmurrays appointment was.

The main concern is that they have made a balls of these things before and will do so again because of their smallmindedness.
