Stupid!!

Post by Ron »

Isn't it a stupid weekend to tie everyone down for? There should be no games fixed for the June Bank Holiday.

Bank Holiday.

Saturday night, 9pm and I'll be trying to make my way out of Durrow when I should be moving smoothly on to my fifth stout and haggling over who's going to try and hire the bus into Moate. Namajaysus.

Does anyone know if these fixtures are dependant on the Offaly Laois result?

In theory

Post by Lone Shark »

In theory they're not. Certainly win or lose, the seniors wouldn't be out for another three weeks at least, so I can't see it being an issue.

The draw is the onion in the ointment. And being honest, that's very possible in this fixture.

If offaly beat Laois there wont be a chance of any of those senior championship matches been played. The decision is kevin Kilmurray's and if he decides that he doesnt want to risk players prior to a leinster semi against either Kildare/Westmeath he wont. The county board have only provisionally fixed those senior club championship matches.

Club Championship Games

Post by doobane man »

My information directly opposes True Reds view. The club games are fixed regardless of the result of the Offaly Vs. Laois game.
There will be no club games in Offaly during the Leaving Cert. examinations as per recent years so the GAC have few options open to them at this stage.
We are again in the midst of Club Vs. County crux. Clubs want championship games - "Why should club players hang around for the Summer months and end up playing in October/November having started their championship in April?".
A fair point though county management teams may not be so understanding.[/quote]
