Didn't realise this was on or I would have gone in. You'd still be very surprised if they couldn't beat Tipp well though.

I only know that Offaly bet them well, don't know the score or any of the team but seemingly Tip weren't up to much

Hard to see the merit in that game.

Seems odd to me playing a game like that. A good club team like Garrycastle or one of the lads in Meath (I'm pretty sure their championship started last weekend) would give them a better game than Tipp. Barring he went with a very experimental line up, but even then it's of limited use because lads aren't playing with their likely championship colleagues beside them.

All I know is that Barry Malone played the whole game and did quite well....

the team went something like this david lowry,sean casey,martin gorman,ger rafferty,barry malone,shane sullivan,nigel grennan,super,james grennan,damien hunt,mark daly,john kenny,dave egan, roy malone,tommo.
Barry played well, surprised that he wasn't tried at FB,james g won plenty of ball - still doesn't seem anywhere near match fitness, roy scored a super goal, dave egan contributed 3points.
altogether not a bad workout but the conditions were awful....roll on galway next weekend

Challenge Match

That's definitely what seems like a second string team. You're looking at three or four out of that team starting in Navan at the most. I'm not normally a fan of that, because say for example you're experimenting with Damien Hunt at wing forward or Shane Sullivan at centre back. Hunt will be playing ball into Tommo, Roy and Davie Egan, who play very differently to Jimmy Paw and Niall, and likewise Sullivan would be playing beside Chop and Barry, who would be very different in style to Slatts and Mooney who'd be the summer combo. Still some merit I suppose, but limited in my book.

You seem to be well up on these things - where and what time are we playing Galway next week? - thanks.
