Eye-balling game to be avoided
26 January 2007

The GAA is to enforce a new rule in the coming year which will define where on the pitch teams are to do their warm-up exercises.

The rule - already included in the rulebook - will seek to prevent the sort of confrontation between teams before matches which erupted prior to last year’s All-Ireland semi-final between Mayo and Dublin.

"The Dublin/Mayo thing probably highlighted it," GAA President Nickey Brennan admitted. "It is to avoid a repeat of that. There wasn’t a regulation there before and now we’re saying ’look we don’t want a repeat.’

"For games in Croke Park, the committee in charge shall determine which dressing room, seating area on the sideline and area of the pitch is to be used for warm-up by the participating teams.

"For games at other venues the county secretary of the county hosting the game will determine this."

Its hard to know what to think of this!
