Magpie, to my recollection, that's the first time I've read a post twice on this site. Without doubt the most informative, and objective, post I've seen on the site in my 5 or 6 years or so lingering in these parts.

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Club Championship 2011
A very disappointing day all round in Tullamore. Solid rain leading up to yesterday left the sod heavy so it was always going to lead to rucks and ponderous hurling. It was also one of the gloomiest looking days I can recall in a long while, the mist rose off the ground and sat just overhead for the...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Management 2012
I would honestly be of the opinion that we couldn't find a worse man for the job than Paddy Kirwan. His ineptness knows no bounds and the sight of him standing on a sideline balling at all and sundry while wearing the bainisteoir bib is actually quite disturbing. His spell as u21 manager was a farce...

Re: Hurling to return to St Brendan's Park
BnM is along the right lines. The permitted capacity for a stadium is based on how long it takes for the place to be evacuated in an emergency. It would be a pity to see Birr GAA spend the money they did with for no increase in capacity at the end of it all, as seems to be the case now. I’ve been o...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Management 2012
Not sure if any of the rest of ye heard it lads but strong talk going around that Eamon O'Shea (ex tipp coach) has been approached to get involved in some capacity. Not sure if he'd take on management job as his experience is more in coaching but he'd be a great addition to the setup if it's true.

Re: Hurling to return to St Brendan's Park
so what will be the outcome? i heard that birr had an inspection last week from a safety consultant with a view to giving a definite capacity limit... the report is to go to croke park. I suspect a lot will depend on the limit imposed. a capacity of at least 7 to 8000 would be needed to get a count...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Club Championship 2011
In case anyone thinks this is big bad Lusmagh coming to relegate depleted Shamrocks . . . If David Moran was Lusmagh’s only absentee things wouldn’t be so bad. Sadly the parish have been badly, badly hit through emigration and injuries. None of the 7 who manned the defence when Lusmagh beat ’Rynagh...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Management 2012
Dear Selection Committee, Please ring Donal O'Grady and offer him whatever he wants. Regards, Offaly Hurling Supporters Seriously lads, if he was anyway interested in taking the job, I think we should do everything we can to get him. I can't imagine he's in it purely for the money either or he would...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Club Championship 2011
I also think its very unfair to question any players transfer or motives without knowing the full picture. Bear in mind that even with a player available for weekends, many games are now played on weekday nights, making it extremely difficult on any player that has to travel It's gotten very fashio...

Re: Offaly selection committee confirmed - Thoughts?
As regards questioning the credentials of the committees selected, anyone involved in the club game in Offaly (which I'm sure any genuine gaa follower is) will tell you who the men selected are. Thinly veiled: 'Hey everybody, look at me, I'm involved in the club game in Offaly!'. Not thinly v...

Re: Offaly selection committee confirmed - Thoughts?
Anyone who comes on here and whinges about these committees is talking absolute sh1t. The intention to form these committees was made known to all clubs and printed in the local papers prior to nominations being submitted and was then voted on by the clubs, who would have been acting on instruction ...

Re: Offaly u21 Hurling
Anybody going to the game tonight? Last underage team left standing this year! Finishing up early so should be on the road before 5, giving plenty of time to get in on soak up the atmosphere. Many others going lads? I know we've a costly weekend coming up but these lads could do with a good shout o...

Re: Páirc Uí Chaoimh to OCP in 180 minutes
I really hope the hurling wasn't brought forward half an hour to give people a chance to make the football aswell. Cork and Tullamore are just too far apart to be realistically looking to (safely) make both games, outside of moving the games further apart time wise as has been done. The thing is 3pm...

Re: Offaly u21 Hurling
Game was originally fixed for Wednesday but was switched to Thursday some time last week, not sure what day I heard it. Game was changed by Leinster Co after both Co Boards had agreed to the change. Not sure which Co Board looked for the change but one would assume Offaly didn't want the change and ...

Re: Joe hits out at County Board
This is just amazing. I cannot believe that we have the same discussion again. This issue is cut and dried as far as im concerned. I am a lot of people have been saying for months the hurling games are in tullamore for one reason and one reason only to pay for OConnor Park. There is no north south ...
