Re: Offaly .v. Cork - SHC Round 1 Qualifier - 4th/July/2009
Totaly agree BNM......D1 has to played by us as championship matches. However we if we are at not 100% of our potental fitness then we are never going to get to the required standard. Lets not be too downbeat (yes it was another hammering but), we played well for 45 mins and won a huge amount of bal...

Re: Offaly .v. Cork - SHC Round 1 Qualifier - 4th/July/2009
Lads we discussed the Offaly hurlers 2nd half blowouts before. I mentioned that one of the main factors was a lack of fitness and I dont think too many agreed with me back then. Well if we are honest about last night we have to admit that our lads were puffing for air after 50 mins whilst Cork were ...

Re: Offaly .v. Cork - SHC Round 1 Qualifier - 4th/July/2009
Offalys Future is correct about the general hurling set up in the county. Many of us have looked on in horror here at how hurling has been allowed to virtually disappear in East Offaly....but this is for another topic. In the short trem we need to beat Cork. It'll take another game like Limerick las...

An end to the Qualifiers
The novelty was worn off now (in Offaly we never even had the novelty) and these Qualifiers have ruined both county and club GAA. Lets look closer. 1. So many pointless football games this weekend. Our own example is the Offaly Wexford clash. Every poster here that is honest will admit that this gam...

Re: Carroll Lashes County Board
Brian Carroll shoul be more concerned with how on earth we will deal with the best half back line in the modern game saturday week (they still are the best...the way they dominated Tipp for long periods a month ago). Our half forward line fell apart in the 2nd half against Wexford and didn't win 1 b...

Re: Football 1st round qualifier draw
Anthony Davis said that we were the worst team, is he right, I thought that Wexford were very poor against Kildare, in that Kildare did not seem to have improved from the Offaly game. Offaly  , Wexford and The Rossies currently the worst in the championship. Teams like Carlow,Waterford and Wi...

Re: Football 1st round qualifier draw
Does the promise of a home football fixture for Offaly against Wexford apply in this case? When Offaly got drawn away to Wexford in hurling, it was on the understanding that if they met in the football, it would be Tullamore. That applied to championship "proper" only. The "Qualifier...

Re: tullamore and o connor park as a venue
Remember there hasn't been anything over 20,000 in it since the mid 80s. We played Dublin in O'Connor Park on a miserable wet day in 1992 and were well beaten......I remember there being a huge crowd maybe more than 20,000. The old O'Connor Park was easily able to cater for 30,000. I just hope that...

Re: the so called gulf between senior and intermediate
I've had the (mis)fortune of seeing plenty of intermediate football in my years and I can tell you that the gap in 2009 to senior is huge. The Island are an exception and Raheen are decent but methinks they wouldn't repeat that type of result too often. Intermediate still has plenty of fine individu...

Re: Offaly vs Wexford - Leinster Championship 30/05/2009
Above all, I can't understand why there was no response to the Oakley hit. Surely the logical response to that, seeing as the referee didn't take action, was for Joe Brady to call a high, lobbing ball onto his head and absolutely flail into Kehoe in the exact same fashion? The whole eye for an eye ...
