Re: Allianz Hurling League Roinn 1B 2016

If you look closely at the County Board's release, you will note that a 'panel' is named. This goes for the footballers as well as the hurlers. It merely allocates jersey members and offers no indication as to the fifteen who will start or how the team will line out. Which is fine. It doesn't offer ...

Re: Allianz Hurling League Roinn 1B 2016

Great to see James Gorman getting the start. Disappointed that Cillian Kiely is not starting at wing forward. We need more naturally scoring forwards, hard working players with a limited return from their work will not win many games.

Re: 2016 Offaly Club Draws

It appears from the Midland Tribune that the Na Fianna U 21 game was called off despite both teams & referee being on the pitch because the County Senior Hurling Management refused to allow a member of the Offaly senior hurling panel play a knock-out championship game for his club. We are all to...

Re: Allianz Hurling League Roinn 1B 2016

Hi Kevin, I don't see a benefit to the team to announce the lineup publicly before the match. Someone else may beg to differ. Any advantage may accrue to supporters. For instance, that Seán Gardiner is starting would persuade a few from Lusmagh to go that mightn't otherwise go. Ditto for someone fr...

Re: Allianz Hurling League Roinn 1B 2016

Strange game , we never really hurled and gifted limerick a goal with a pass across our own square , then had a goal dissallowed for a free in the build up when the ref seen to have allowed advantage and then j gorman missed a good goal chance at the end . s hickey also appeared to strike an offaly...

Re: Allianz Hurling League Roinn 1B 2016

Hear say has it that Wynne was called into the panel and asked Kelly for time to think if he would commit or not and Kelly expressed that he didn't want lads with this frame of mind and retracted his invitation. If so, Kelly is bringing exactly what we need. Stephen wynne would have the head for it...

Re: Allianz Hurling League Roinn 1B 2016

All roads lead to O'Connor park Sunday. We talk about yesterday all we want but we are no where in the same standards as Clare. Realistically the games versus Clare and Limerick where all about putting in a performance and getting a win over Laois to raise confidence for Wexford games and pipping K...

Re: Allianz Hurling League Roinn 1B 2016

Just an observation - not one player from 3 ( kk, coolderry & birr ) of last years semi finalists. Strange that they named Bergin at 5, not a fear of him playing there. All the best to all involved and here's hoping for an upset. There appears to be only ONE Player from all the clubs that have ...

Re: Offaly Schools Hurling

There will be a minmal representation from Offaly on Sigurson & Fitzgibbon panels unless the Offaly Co Board requests their Under 21 & Senior Managers to release all players on third level panels from training with Offaly for the months of January & February each year. It is not possible...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2015

Reading the last few pages. Can someone explain to me what the hell a lesser club is?? all the clubs i see playing in Offaly given a 100% commentment, 100% passion and want the best for the players and everyone involved in the club. That the make every club in Offaly equal. There is no lesser clubs...

l Also in case anyone doubts Coolderry lads commitment to Offaly hurling I recall back in 2005 when we are also county champs, there was at least 8 , Joe Brady, Kevin Brady, Brian Carroll, Damien Murray, Barry Teehan, Shane o Connor , Brendan o Meara , Trevor Corcoran all on championship panel v Du...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2015

Sharp eye I could give you a list of players from other lesser clubs who are not going in with the team cos of commitment so your point infact is wrong. S Gardner S Coughlan M Cleary B Harding D Hayden S Wynne T Spain T Carroll There is a few I am sure there is another 10 also. I think some of the ...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2015

S connolly is the only man on the panel. Has Winning the Offaly Senior Hurling Club championship become more important to the players from our best clubs than playing for Offaly at Senior Inter-County level??? David king in college in Nottingham until April, Cathal parlon out till summer with cruci...

How can the players from our lesser clubs make themselves available??? Are they not working or in college????
