Re: The Betting Thread
Very good idea LS. A small punt adds a bit of extra spice to games epecially league. Personnally the bets of the weekend are: Roscommon -1 to beat Offaly (this is one of the most standout bets Ive ever seen) 10/11 Louth -2 to beat Limerick (Louth out with all guns blazing trying to win every game......

Re: Roscomon V Offaly
Right the mortage is due next week so i always like a punt here and there to get a bit of spare cash for a night or two out. Well i dont have to look very far this weekend do I. Roscommon are 10/11 minus 1 point against Offaly. Thats the bet I've seen in 15 years of GAA betting!! The Offaly team tha...

Re: Roscomon V Offaly
In fairness everything is pointing to a Rosscommon win. The last 2 lines of BNM Mans post sum it all up.

Re: GPA and Cork Hurlers
Well done Ger McCarthy! He has stood up to the Cork bullyboys and is pushing on with his new panel. I personally hope we have seen the last of Sean Og, Donal Og, Rock and the O'Connors etc. Great hurlers in their day but their conduct of late means they have no place in the GAA anymore. They are no ...

Re: Your Offaly Championship Team 2009
In theory Shark you are correct but my experience of playing and watching tells different. A two man full forward line with one lad dropping back means the opposition put a lad out around the middle as well. Keeping in mind that they are likely to be trying the same thing themselves that can mean 4 ...

Re: Your Offaly Championship Team 2009
I would have Slattery at the back. We need to play a 3 man full forward line. If we play 2 inside with Slattery (or anybody else) dropping back, then thats just negative. Its a very simple game to play. 2 midfielders, 3 half forwards and 3 in full forward line is the only way to attack. Anything els...

Re: Offaly Jersey
Never seen a long sleeved replica. Hurlers wore the long sleeves today. Its an awful looking jersey long or short.

Re: The season begins
Good article by Herbs. I think its an advantage playing in Wexford. Its funny how neither our hurlers or footballers are in any way feared in Tullamore. We tend to have a poor record there in recent years league and championship. Puts a small bit of pressure on Wexford. For me Offaly are an improvin...

Re: The season begins
Remove all univerity/College teams from Intercounty competition. The absurd notion of univerity teams in club championships should be ended as well. All nonsence. Let them have their beering session at the end of February but leave the county competitions to county teams and club competitions to clu...

Re: The season begins
Sigerson and Fitzgibbon are little more than glorified piss ups. Players would be far better off lining out for their county. I would send out the strongest Offaly hurling team for every match. In division 2 we should be going after Carlow Down Laois etc and trying to humiliate them. Getting momentu...

Re: The season begins
Whats going on here. We have Offaly playing the first competitve game of the year and fellas are going to play in a mickey mouse university match instead. This is a joke. We already have the footballers with nothing to show after 2 games. The hurlers need to be trying win every game possible to buil...

Re: GPA and Cork Hurlers
I'll simplify things. If you are from Cork (or any other county) and you have been asked into your county panel you have two options. Option 1: Accept it and be grateful to wear your county colours (something I would have loved to do).....what a honour. Option 2: Decline the offer for whatever reaso...

Re: Offaly 0-13 Carlow 2-11
Thanks to LS for an insightful look at yesturdays game. Its worrying because form is very difficult to switch on. Losing games can become a habit....(Bracknagh people are aware of this). I know its only a shield match but its better to win these games than lose. If all else fails and a team has play...
