6 days rest
I'd be more inclined to point the finger at the fixture-makers in the Leinster council rather than our county board. After all, they're charged with promoting Leinster hurling. Incidentally, what happens if either Leinster semi ends in a draw? How does this affect the order of matches in the groups....

Shefflin
Ya, Shark. Bear in mind tho', that KK's likely line up will have Shefflin at 15, and Eoin Larkin at 11.
As regards Hoctor, I've nothing against him per se, I justhave an aversion to rookie 20 year-olds lining out against Kilkenny. Maybe Hoctor will be fine. I've no specific argument anainst the lad.

What now?
David Moran missed all of last year after his knee went again early in the year. Was due to line out at full back for Lusmagh last Sunday (which I didn't get to, unfortunately) So, with Claffey out, what are the options? At least theres time to find a replacement. What chance Stephen Brown in the ha...

Kilkenny
Some interesting comments by McIntyre, more for what he doesn't say, rather than what he does. Ironically, Kilkenny's performance in the league final was just what we needed, for a number of reasons. Firstly, it shows us where the bar is, obviously, and that to compete, Offaly will have to perform a...

Div 2 final
Where and when now for our division 2 final? The footballers play Louth in Navan in Sunday week. Is it a possible curtain-raiser? How far is Navan from Carlow? As for opponents, am I right in thinking Derry need to beat Carlow by 4 or more to keapfrog them? Thats possible. Westmeath need a Derry win...

Clare at it again
Regarding Regan and Comerford. I still don't know how Pat IO'Connor singled out Regan for the red card. Surely there was two . . . While on the subject of flaking, I recall 3 Offaly forwards having Clare hurls wrapped around them at the precise moment the referee threw in the ball. I was a long way ...

Radio 3
Spent one of the longest half-hours of me life on Saturday in between Radio 3 telling us the were level, and giving that report from CKRFM. Cheeses, they did the rounds of English soccer, the account of the Laois match where apparently all the Laois lads hurled well, yetb were bet by 15 points ore s...

Brian Gavin
What had he to do with it? Fourth official?
As for the future of this team, the schools having a good run in their respective competitions is a big help.

Kerry yesterday
I was there, got drownded, learned nothing. As I expected during the week, the lineout reverted to type yesterday. The game turned in 5 minutes between the 20th and 25th minute when Kerry had 3 defenders yellow-carded. Prior to that, Offaly had shown some nice touches, got some nice scores but were ...

'Follow me up to Caar-low'
I wouldn't be getting worked up about losing this match. After all, tis 51 weeks since the infamous day in Portlaoise when Dublin beat us by 21, with Digdy applauding the last Dublin score. The tables were turned 2 months later. I always felt that they needed to lose a match along the line for the a...

Hurling team
Joe Brady looks to be being given an extended run at full back this time. At the moment it looks as if KK are preparing John Hoyne for full forward, and if so, Joe is the man for the job. Problem position now is CHB, and while McRedmond is hurling well, unfortunately he hasn't the physique to challe...

Firstly, the practice of waving at a ball in the air with one hand on the hurl is to cease forthwith. Its a terrible habit. Ironic that the match was won by the 3 forward subs who were introduced. Showed some good running and picked each other out well. The team as a whole played some good ball arou...

Schools
Yea, good to see the 3 hurling schools making progress. Hope it continues and the best of luck to them all. After all, the team of the '90's originated with the success of Birr and Banagher tech. This is where we have to start from again. There should be the makings of a reasonable minor team this y...

A concern re Enforced Substitutions
I think it is worrying that the impact the enforced substitution rule will have on club hurling and football, if introduced, has not been considered. Consider this. Most of the clubs (probably ALL the small ones) would use 16 or 17 players during the group stages of the championships, so as not to d...
