Re: Allianz Hurling League Roinn 1B 2016

To be honest, I never expected a huge performance against Clare. Offaly started very brightly which was very encouraging. We fell apart in the last 10-15 mins of the 1st half and the scoreline probably wasn't a million miles off reflecting the Clare dominance as they squandered a lot of chances and ...

Re: The Betting Thread.....

I know there’s not much to go off but just said I’d throw a few bets up I fancy for this weekend. No real fact behind it only my own opinion. None are favourites but would not be surprised if there were a few upsets. Tipperary Vs Dublin This will be tight and I think Dublin are a very good price for...

Re: 2016 Offaly Club Draws

Thanks for posting that, Buttons. Where do Crinkill fit into the IHC draw? They were quarter-finalists in each of the last two years. Have they regarded to Junior? Some cracking matchups in the U21 hurling. Shinrone v Kilcormac for a start, and Rynaghs v Drumcullen/Clareen. Yes thanks for that Butt...

Allianz Hurling League Roinn 1B 2016

Just said I’d try and kick off a new thread on the upcoming league seeing what people’s expectations are overall as well as in each respective round. Overall I’m hoping Offaly can do reasonably well. I’m not confident, but in saying that, I am optimistic. Aside from the Wexford game (which was playe...

Re: Walsh Cup 2016

The lads had to do the pre-match warm up a rugby pitch across from St. Brendans Park. Laughable stuff. Playing a county fixture in a ground like Birr when a superb facility with all mod cons is 25 mins up the road is anther reason when we are going backwards as a county when we should be going forw...

Re: The Betting Thread.....

Lone Shark is there any way we could get this thread going again? Wasn't on board on the forum at the time but impressed with the detail you went into to be honest. I remember many of the matches used throughout the thread. Some very shrewd info and research put into it in fairness. Would be good to...

Re: Walsh Cup 2016

Just seen that the Leinster Council have changed the date of the Walsh Cup final on their website from the 31st of January to the 30th of January in order to be part of a double header with the Dublin Kerry Football league game. Up to yesterday it had been for the Sunday and the date in the programm...

Re: Walsh Cup 2016

No, WB. Jack Guiney and Conor McDonald would be ineligible for Wexford having lined out with DIT in the Walsh Cup and therefore would be considered 'cup-tied'. Back to the subject of this thread though……..I see we play Wexford in New Ross next Sunday at 2pm. I know I’ve asked already but does anyon...

Re: Walsh Cup 2016

Very good point Bord Na Mona man. The decline for Offaly had started well before the county set up and the club semi's and final were moved to Tullamore. I don’t think it is the cause of the decline at all to be honest. I lay that firmly at the door of the county board who were in charge throughout ...

Re: Walsh Cup 2016

That may be the photo that the majority of people will take from today Lone Shark. But for me the below photo is the one that I'll be taking from today. It wasn't pretty and certainly wasn't stylish with slips and breaks in play but a lot was to do with very difficult conditions. Today I saw 20 comm...

Re: Walsh Cup 2016

A big win for DIT over what was effectively the Kilkenny under-21s tonight (4-14 to 0-16) means that barring a twenty point defeat on Sunday, Offaly's place in the Walsh Cup semis is assured. Wexford will almost certainly be the opponents, and it looks like an away trip as well. I don't want to tak...

Re: Walsh Cup 2016

Even though Offaly were kept at arms length there was encouraging aspects to this display. An unfortunate error for the Tipp goal and Offaly would have been a lot closer at the short whistle and may have had a bit more determination at the start of the 2nd half. Offaly never let Tipp get away from t...

Re: Brian Carroll retires

In my opinion probably our most gifted hurler of the last decade. As POTH mentioned those goals against Tipperary in 2006 stick out in my mind as great scores also. But also his performances which dragged Offaly through dirty games against lesser lights like Laois, Down and Antrims of the hurling wo...
