Re: Offaly Intermediate Club Hurling Championship 2023

Clareen weren't defeated by Bray. In recent years Seir Kieran were the only team who I felt were equipped to do well in the Leinster Intermediate Championship. I was actually surprised they were defeated by Bray Emmets in 2019. Kinnitty may have also made decent progress in 2020 but Covid put paid t...

Types of Category V Infractions (that carry a three month suspension together with a two match suspension) include: To interfere with a Referee, Score Umpire, Line Umpire or Sideline Official – minor physical interference e.g. laying a hand on, pushing, pulling or jostling. To use threatening langua...

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023

Only catching up on this now. I have a few projects going on and haven’t had a chance to assess the County final. Firstly, huge credit to the Birr club. Massive voluntary effort by so many, and the wonderful community spirit around the St Brendan’s Park club is so evident. They have set the bar now ...

Re: U20 hurlers 23

Will be four. St Brendan's beat them 0-13 to 0-11 in 2019's quarter-final, their last defeat at the grade.

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023

A Senior goalkeeper worth their salt won't be allowing a ball bounce in the square, whether tarmac, astro, grass or turfmould.
Dodge83 wrote: Sat Oct 14, 2023 9:52 am At least the ball won’t bounce into the net off shite 😂

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023

I'd say the pitch will be alright. There's astro in the goals, so they won't be an issue.
Dodge83 wrote: Fri Oct 13, 2023 8:40 pm Because the pitch isn’t as good as it’s made out to be. Wouldn’t handle 2 games 😉

Because there's a concert on instead.
bracknaghboy wrote: Fri Oct 13, 2023 3:53 pm Why this year do we not have the normal opening game before the county final?
Surely the junior final would have been an ideal opener at 1:30pm and senior then at 3:30pm?
Feels a bit bare with just the one game.

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023

I see Kilcormac were 3/10 with one large bookmaking firm this morning.

So that's it, then. Effectively a done deal. Wouldn't be worth Shinrone's time travelling to Tullamore for the Kilcormac coronation. At least it's in Birr this year, and Shinrone will be back home again in time for their tea!

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023

Well God bless you, Bracknaghboy! 2022 attendance was just over 5,100. This figure was announced at the game. (That media figure quoted by POTH is incorrect figure given by the media). Official figure announced at the final in 2022 was 5,793 . I've it scribbled on last years final program. Not sure ...

Attendance reported in the media was 5,793, and the receipts reported in the Board's Annual Report published at Convention was €59,327.

Re: Offaly Senior B Hurling Championship 2023

Yes. Fake news. Per competition regulations, those who took the field today are regraded to Senior for next year. But the usual regrading rules apply. Up to around 2018 this would mean they could regrade seven down a grade. Since then, clubs select a list of 18 Seniors and the rest can play at a low...

Yes, I did include Cappincur, and I note the points you make. I admit I wouldn’t be overly familiar with the area, but I do recall Cappincur were a driver of St Vincent’s successes of a decade ago, and I find it hard to believe the population of the area would have grown old in the meantime, with re...
