Re: Football Results.

Bally beat Shannonbridge in Div 1 on saturday evening. Full outfits for both teams with the exception of Jason Kelly. I believe he is holding out until the rugby is finished but heresay being what it it there may only be a kernel of truth in that.

Clara beat Bally in Div 3 on sunday.

Re: Referee's to strike on........

Looks like its going to run and run. Lots of challenge games to look forward to. Or not to look forward to........??? After what happened to Cathal Daly in Tullamore last weekend should challenge games be played without a GAA sanctioned referee? What if Cathal wasn't a member of the Guards and had n...

Re: Club All Ireland

I thought that too when watching the game (marathon) on saturday but it also occurred to me that he has a hamstring strain so he wouldn't be going full pelt with that in the back of his mind. He has a chunky frame alright though...

Re: Reprieve for St. Mary's - EDIT - All Referees now on strike

I'm fully behind the referees in ther current stance but I would ask that now they have shown that they can cause games throughout the county to be postponed when they unite in support of their collegue, would they agree to referee games that do not involve any of the clubs involved in that game? At...

Re: Offaly v Antrim

When you are a small county of are languishing in the lower reaches of the league you tend to get the cast off decisions. Look at Leitrim in Division 3. Last year they flew to London only to be told 10 monutes before the start ofthe game that the game was cancelled. On another occasion the travelled...

Overheard in the RTE canteen yesterday..... Brian Dobson: [about Sile Ni Seoige] I'll give this little cookie an hour before we're doing the no-pants dance. Time to musk up. [opens cologne cabinet] Eamonn Horan: Wow. Never ceases to amaze me. What cologne you gonna go with? London Gentleman, or wait...

Re: Cork GAA dispute

The thing is they are not 'on strike' they have just 'withdrawn their services'. The next step is to ask the next best 60 footballers and hurlers to compete for Cork . I asked a mate down in Cork , who would probably be in that next tier whether he would consider it and he told me not in a million y...

Re: Ciaran McManus

Hang on a second there lads. We would all agree that we don't have 6ft plus midfielders beating a path to Croghan and nobody in the county 'deserves' to play at midfield so why not put Mac in his best position and be done with it? I always saw him as more of a Shane Ryan player than a Darragh O'Se a...

Jaysus, I didn't write that. I lifted it straight off another site. I think it might have origninally come from the Examiner. Just getting back to work is enough effort at the moment.

2007 Hurling - A year in review

Hurling THE YEAR OF THE CATS HURLING REVIEW 1 Brian Cody Having led Kilkenny to five All-Ireland titles this decade, he consolidated his position at the top of the managerial mountain and looks certain to remain there for quite some time to come. What odds on Cody still being in charge of Kilkenny i...

2007 Football - A year in Review

We'll start with Gaelic Football.. The Good, the Bad and the Kingdom 1. Pat O'Shea It's hard being Kerry manager in any era. It's harder still being Kerry manager in your first year when they are All-Ireland champions, with two of the previous three titles under their belt, Seamus Moynihan gone and ...
