Re: Offaly v Clare NHL 01/04/2012

Just one thing to add to the debate. Offaly are far far too conservative when we get the extra man advantage, it seems that everytime we get the one man advantage we try to put him in the least effective position possible. I would be of the opinion that having an extra man on the full back line is r...

Re: Offaly v Clare NHL 01/04/2012

Enough. Joe Brady has nowhere near the mobility required for inter-county hurling. Analyze the play of any decent inter-county centre back (or centre forward) and look at the pace they are required to have, the ground they have have to cover, the sidesteep, agility etc. Jesus, the notion that all a...

Re: Offaly v Limerick NHL 24/03/2012

Fair question. Frees first - Dooley has a higher conversion rate than anyone else. He pointed the pressure frees like against Antrim and Galway in 2010. much as I think the world of Bergin as a hurler, his free-conversion rate is not as high as Dooley's. The only player who's free conversion rate w...

Re: Offaly v Limerick NHL 24/03/2012

There should be about 7 coolderry players on the offaly panel this year. Joe & Kevin Brady, Brian Carroll, Cathal Parlon, Damien Murray, Eoin Ryan & probably even Kevin Connolly. I think im being conservative with that number to be honest as there are a number of others who have had a great ...

Re: all ireland club hurling championship

realy gutted we were on the wrong side of the result on Saturday. On the day the best team won and hats off to loughgiel. They had a gameplan and it worked a treat. The goals just before half time realy rocked the team and realy were more mistakes than skill if im honest. On top of this we missed at...

Re: Offaly Senior Inter County Hurling 2012

Good post to kickstart this. I think Offaly definately have been needing belief in the last few years...Offaly are definately not as bad as they have performed over the last decade, also as was well pointed out we are also probably not going to be carrying the Liam McCarthy into Offaly in the coming...

Re: leinster club hurling

I think its about time I posted here! Ive been quiet over the last few weeks as I didnt want to get carried away. It is with great pride that I write this evening. The 15 players that took the field yesterday in a Coolderry jersey died for the jersey and got their just rewards. There was probably an...

Re: Brian Cowen's legacy of failure as Taoiseach

I'll be voting for Michael D Higgins tomorrow myself. I'm not going to tell people who to vote for, but I urge voters of all hues to steer away from Cowens bagman - the z-list celebrity FFer Sean Gallagher. The Presidency is not a pivotal role in the large scheme of things, however it would be a ba...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Club Championship 2011

..... Martin Corcoran will be fighting to keep his place. Maybe he will and you'd obviously know better, but my feeling is that he shouldn't be. I though with Coolderry hanging on to a narrow lead and the Birr backs starting to get on top, taking him off made no sense. Eoin Ryan and Brian Carroll h...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Club Championship 2011

Just getting around to reading this now. It was a fantastic win last sunday, it went down to a nail biting finish and Birr really went on the charge for the last 20 minutes of the game and really could have snook it at the end. There are some people being critical of Brian Carroll, he set up two sup...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Club Championship 2011

There is the prospects of a great match tomorrow. I think this match will hinge on the positining of Joe Brady, in Shinrone Gary Hanniffy dragged him as far away from the ball as possible. If that happens again there will be a huge hole left in the middle of the coolderry defence right in front of S...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Club Championship 2011

I think that unless you were a supporter of either Birr or Coolderry, it would be hard to come away from O'Connor Park feeling positive. There's no question but that the two best and most deserving teams are in the county final and there is a lot to be said for that, but the overwhelming impression...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Club Championship 2011

Two bad games seems to be the concensus here, but in fairness I think everyone will agree Coolderry & Birr are by far the two best teams in the championship over the last ten years or so. There will be a lot of unfinished business on both sides, Birr will feel a bit hard done by after being knoc...

Re: Brian Cowen's legacy of failure as Taoiseach

On the social principle I dont even know where I stand there are plenty of arguments for and against and to be honest I dont want to get into that side too much Id rather leave that to people with far better skills than me! Thurles is on the main rail line between Dublin - Cork, there is an hourly s...

Re: Brian Cowen's legacy of failure as Taoiseach

Il make a case for the defence for a laugh! First off you cant compare a brothel to a casino, I understand the point youre trying to make but there is a massive difference There would be minimal state cash needed. For a start the new M8 motorway runs within a mile of two mile borris, it is within a ...
