Re: League & Championship hurling 2022

Back in circulation after 5/52 in MRHTullamore, following a serious illness. Now in recovery, challenges in Offaly hurling continue. Is the Antrim game in Tullamore next Saturday? Big test for Ml. Fennelly and squad. Offaly footballers v Cork in do or die game on Sunday. It ain’t easy being green, ...

Re: 50 years ago, how 1971's breakthrough became 1972's dominance

Brilliant read. Can you imagine this below.......15,000 in the old old OCP a couple of weeks before Christmas. Wonderful. Sunday 12th December Mighty Kerry came to Tullamore for the fourth round of the league. And before a massive 15,000 people Offaly gave a performance for the ages, crushing Kerry ...

Re: Offaly Hurlers 2022

Both played two at home and three away. Venue decided on toss of a coin. Next weekend, if I'm not mistaken. Any inclinations on where and when the relegation final will be played. Can we hear antrim and stay up? Navan Saturday afternoon is what I hear now. Sounds like it's anyone guess what is goin...

Re: National Foothall league Div 2 predictions

Methinks a final day shootout against Cork on the 27th in OCP is on the cards. Cork were atrocious today in Navan, absolutely atrocious. It's a mystery how the chap thats over them got the job, he's genuinely the worst spoofer ever.......his interviews are pure comedy! That said a final day shoot ou...

Re: National Foothall league Div 2 predictions

Lovely spring afternoon in Salthill yesterday. First time I've been there when the wind was so calm which made for an interesting encounter. The pitch looked heavy but didn't deteriorate much as the game went on and was in good shape. One thing to say is that this Offaly side has pace and buckets of...

Re: National Foothall league Div 2 predictions

My feeling is that Offaly's easiest route to survival is: - Offaly beat Down in Newry. - Cork pull up their socks and beat both Meath and Down, - Clare beat both Down and Meath (likely but not certain) - Derry beat Meath (strongly likely) Offaly survive with just 3 league points. Down and Meath go ...

Re: National Foothall league Div 2 predictions

Offaly 1-10 Meath 1-10 This was an improvement albeit against as poor a Meath side as I can remember. With a strong wind in the 1st half Offaly only manged 6 points. It was only 5 points with the wind against Derry and Clare. Now to be fair Saturday the wind was blowing somewhat at an angle Saturda...

Re: Offaly Hurlers 2022

But, as a supporter I was embarrassed with our support. I reckon more Clare supporters in the stand than for us. Biggest cheer of the day seemed to be when Peter Duggan came on  Same with the footballers yesterday Ah I wouldn't mind that lads. Don't worry, if we get to oh I don't know say may...

Dodge83 wrote: Tue Feb 22, 2022 7:21 pm Seen that Clonmore Harps are down to play Div 4 hurling this year according to an email of the league & championship entries sent out today. Surely that’s a mistake ??
Has to be an error.
They have done really well just to keep the football team on the go in recent years.

Re: National Foothall league Div 2 predictions

Lot of focus on Meath and Down but Cork are also in trouble. All 3 are on just 1 point after 3 games. Cork still have to play both Meath and Down so points could potentially be shared around and thats where that Meath/Down draw could come back to hurt Offaly. This game on Saturday afternoon against ...

Re: Offaly Hurlers 2022

Anyway, what's done is done. It is. But we need to have one eye on the future too. Say Offaly win the Joe McDonagh this year or next and go up into the 6 team Leinster group. They could in theory be really competitive but still lose all 5 games and be relegated again. In fact they could win 1 game ...

Re: Offaly Hurlers 2022

Offaly were getting well bet at that stage So were Waterford in Munster in 2018 and 2019, presumably you would you have relegated them as well? It would have done them the world of good I'd say! In 2019 for example they lost 3 of their matches by 13, 18 and 20 points. Lads are missing my point a bi...

Re: Offaly Hurlers 2022

Offaly should have given Wexford a walkover in 2018 and prepared for the Dublin game instead. Or better still we should have sent out the Brosna Gaels junior B team to take them on that Saturday evening. I'm serious by the way. The Leinster council were taking the piss so we should have met them hea...

Re: Offaly Hurlers 2022

I still maintain that Offalys relegation from Leinster should never have happened in 2018. It has made things way worse. Yes we know all about the underage results for the last 20 years but the impact of relegation has never been properly looked into. A conversation in Birr Sunday with a wise man ha...

bracknagh boy there was 600 in OCP last week to watch Derry and offaly....3000 in birr get your own sport in order before ya start making inaccurate statements about a sport ya find unusual to understand. Ah lads when did I get the job of increasing attendances at Offaly games? I was in OCP last we...
