Niall McNamee Retires
Obviously overshadowed by Sean Cavanagh's announcement, Niall McNamee has just announced his retirement a few minutes ago. I remember his debut in Portlaoise in 2003, aged just 17. He turned into, in my opinion, one of the best forwards in the country at a time when Offaly couldn't keep the ball kic...

Re: Development Squads Deserve Respect and a Profile
a window for more U20 club games within the county would be more sensible. too much training at every age, not enough games Meath recently changed their underage structures that most children at under 14 and Under 12 will be playing a game of football and hurling every week, with a separate section...

Re: Development Squads Deserve Respect and a Profile
did the U15 footballers get to the final of the Mangan tournament last weekend only to be beaten by Kerry? That is correct in that they got to the final. They were well beaten in the final by Kerry South, who themselves beat Kerry North in the semi-final. Interesting that the groups were settled by...

Re: County Management Stability
I'm very angry reading that. It's so reminiscent of the bullshit of 14 years ago. Small time, small minds.

Re: County Management Stability
After a year or even two, progress and development of a team are key indicators of how a manager is getting on. However after 3 years surely results have to be assessed. Under Pat Flanagan, Offaly's championship record is P10, W3, L6, D1 (One of those wins was over London) Offaly's entire competiti...

Re: County Management Stability
This nonsense started with Paul Kelly back in 2003, and we've been shooting ourselves in the foot since. Longer term contributors will know I've beaten that drum before :) I'm involved with Tipp development squads in football, and I can see that good work is being done in the Offaly football setup. ...

Re: Offaly v Kerry, Leinster round robin, Sunday 22nd May
i didnt say they were easy but there was not a bit of hard hurling in it. look its great we won but i agree with Tox Kerry were poor , offaly first touch wasnt good , we were weak in the air , striking was terrible , very poor balls into the forwards untill the last 5 minutes when kerry were gone ,...

Well done lads. MAssive win in the circumstances. Laois are beatable, especially now that Offaly have 3 tough championship matches under their belts. A rematch with Westmeath in the semis is on the cards

Development Squads in Offaly - Football
Lads, just wondering does anyone know who is looking after the Football Development Squads in Offaly, particularly the U14s? I'm looking for a challenge game for Tipp.

Re: Summer Soccer
Lads, I think will be an issue, and it is not just elite players. In Tipperary, and Limerick, all schoolboys soccer is moving from a Sept-May calendar to a March-October kind of calendar. This is all ages down to the equivalent of our U6s and U8s. Now, I don't think there's any reason for fallout ov...

Re: Origins of Offaly colours
there's a record on the Clara club website of them wearing Green White and Gold back in 1893 I think it was. There's no mention of why they wore it, but there you go.
