Re: What are they smoking in Birr?
Joe, By "all ticket" I mean there will be a set number of tickets set aside for the game and when these are all sold the game is a sell out. No one else is allowed in. OCP employs a ticketing system which is slightly different. From recent reading I was doing its common practice in GAA to ...

Re: What are they smoking in Birr?
I don't think this year's Galway SHC final is a fair comparison with the situation in Offaly at the moment. Pearse Stadium is currently unavailable as they are doing work on the pitch so the situation becomes more similar to our own if both pitches are available next year. Then it'll be very interes...

Re: New Minor & Senior Hurling Management
Ah come on POTH, Ken Hogan is only out the road from Birr, has been involved in the Offaly club championship for the last number of years and obviously takes a keen interest in the Offaly SHC as a spectator. For Joe Quaid to travel to Kilcormac from Murroe in Limerick for a league semi it would seem...

Re: New Minor & Senior Hurling Management
I will admit this is anecdotal rather than first hand evidence but seemingly Joe Quaid was at the Kinnitty vs Seir Kieran league semi final on Saturday. He has also resigned as Limerick camogie manager.
Is his appointment now a fait accompli?

Re: New Minor & Senior Hurling Management
I have to say I've noticed that with Galway this year too. Traditionally I would associate Galway with running with the ball and taking on their men but this year they seem to have gone for a more basic and direct formula of getting the ball into the forwards as quickly as possible. It's not a bad i...

Re: New Minor & Senior Hurling Management
With regards St Rynagh's game plan I think a lot of managers come into a team and implement a pre determined game plan on a team when the thing really to do is assess your teams strengths and weaknesses and create a game plan to suit this. I don't think St Rynagh's current style came about as a resu...

Fair point POTH but there's no harm us commenting on the speculation.

Re: New Minor & Senior Hurling Management
With this Joe Quaid rumour it seems we've really become the home for the first time manager. Four years of Joe Dooley, two years of Ollie Baker and two years of Brian Whelehan. If we appoint Joe Quaid which I would presume would be for a minimum of two years that would be a full decade of novice man...

Re: New Hurling Manager
You may have misread the programme POTH or else there is a mistake as regarding club management teams as it is 2016 when all club management teams must contain an Award 1 coach and this person would ideally be the head coach. And by 2018 all head coaches in clubs must be Award 1 qualified. A few iss...

Re: Offaly vs Clare - 2015 Senior Hurling Qualifier R1
Could be a long day at the office for Offaly on Saturday. I was talking to a probable starter on the team over the weekend and his demeanour and opinion didn't exactly fill me with hope to be honest. Clare are operating at a completely different level to Offaly and while I would love to see Clare pl...
