Re: IFC

Walsh Island without a doubt this year and they deserve it. Something I've noticed in the last 5 years is that the standard of intermediate football in Offaly has dipped considerably and I think the 2 recent IFC quarter finals illustrate that.

Re: All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final

Personally, I'm a bit tired of this constant talk about Kilkenny (especially Walsh) playing on the "edge". What edge? There is no edge. Takling an oponent is either a foul or not. Hitting across arms, legs, wrists, grabbing masks, throwing hurleys and wild swinging are all offences and yet...

I'd rather it than having my exposed wrists/elbows and forearms slapped.

Re: All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final

Walsh was been a thug for the past 5 years......slapping arms elbows and wrists in an attempt to injure opponents. He was hit on the mask yesturday so I dont see why everybody thinks hes great for getting up.....why wouldn't he when he himself hadn't been hit. He is a fine hurler without a doubt.......

Re: RTE NO SHOW.

Its time for Offaly GAA and supporters to move on. Watching old men parade around Croke Park in ill fitting suits is a waste of everybodys time. Yes we have a great past for a small county but thats exactly what it is... a past! All this nonsense that goes on with "celebrating" or "co...

Re: Croke Park Presentation

Insurance, health and safety blah blah blah. All bull if you ask me. A person is as likely to get hurt going up or down one of them stairs in Croke Park than to be hurt on the pitch after a match (still the mentality is this country is to claim if you can so authoritites are nervous of taking risks)...

Re: Will there be relegation from SFC if Rhode win Intermediate?

Just wondering what would happen in the event(Which is not too unlikely) of Rhode winning the Intermediate football championship? Will Shannonbridge or Edenderry get a reprieve? Surely Rhode, although their second team would probably get to a SFC semi-final at least, would not be permitted to have ...

Re: edenderry v shannonbridge

hardly fair that such an important match be played under lights on a wednesday night especially for shannonbridge who have to go all the way to walsh island... plus the bridge only played on saturday evening hardly had time to recover from such a hard match against gracefield Agree 100%. Its madnes...

Re: SFC - Eye Catchers

My hands down player of the year so far has been James Grennan. His high fielding is lovely to watch! I coudn't agree more! I've seen only 3 senior games this year and about 5 intermediate games and I can safely say Jim Grennans fielding saturday evening against Erin Rovers was something I have not...

Re: Tipsters Competition round 9, plus knockout QF's and playoff

what was the story in tullamore , erin rovers ferbane???????? Draw, Rovers 0-11 to Ferbane 1-8. A fantastic game of football. 60mins of end to end play by two teams playing as if their lives depended on it! It was only soured a bit by Eddie Dunnes pulling back around 5 (LS could confirm) frees for ...

Re: Tipsters Competition round 9, plus knockout QF's and playoff

Sat 4.30pm Doon (F) vs Bracknagh (U) [/b] Jaysus boys......15 of ye going for Doon and 1 for a draw so  !! I actually think we have it in us to win this one. Terrible start to to the year but the lads are getting it together. One of our boys pointed out that we have won 4 of the last 5 champ...

Re: Ciaran McManus to stay on another year

If 20% of his dedication, enthusiasam and genuine passion for the county jersey rubbed off on some of our other panalists we'd be well on the way! Its good news. Yes he's inconsistant but if he isn't messed around next year he has a big role to play.

Re: Junior C Football

Was at two 'C' games so far this year and must say they were highly enjoyable. The extra space helps yes but I think a lot of the teams just go out and play....there tends not to be (or at least less) tactics of putting players behind the ball. Lots of good footballers playing too who have committed...

Re: Changes to playing rules

Good Topic. 1.) I'd worry that it just wouldn't get enforced. Instead of 5 lads would run 12 and complain that refs are not allowing the extra step. Its a difficult one this. I'd leave it. 2.) Arms out by defenders I think would limit further the space that forwards have to work with. Its getting ti...
