Re: Offaly Club Hurling C'ship 2016
Fixtures mess which caused club players to sit waiting for the past 3 months after the first round of the Offaly Hurling championship was caused by club delegates refusing to allow a most necessary change to the Offaly championships. Congratulations to the Offaly Co Board for getting an acceptable s...

Re: Offaly vs Wexford 2016 Hurling Qualifier - Saturday July
Our Senior Hurling Co team manager must take account of the best interest of Offaly hurling when every decision is taken. Bringing on 5 Under 21 players (at least one of whom was not a week on the senior panel) was of little benefit to Offaly's Under 21 Leinster Hurling Title ambitions. A number of ...

Re: Offaly vs Wexford 2016 Hurling Qualifier - Saturday July
I'm not so sure that dropping balls into the square is necessarily the winning tactic with the wind. If Bergin was deployed there as people suggested, he isn't a proven ball winner to start with. The wind is going to carry balls too far and some will them will roll wide or into the goalie. After th...

Re: Offaly vs Wexford 2016 Hurling Qualifier - Saturday July
I did not think it was possible for Offaly to perform at a lower level in 2016 than Offaly did in 2015, but they did. Laois are much weaker this year as the result of the Laois Clare game proved. Westmeath defeated Offaly by 14 points in the Championship. A new management team (with no family relati...

Re: Offaly County Board Thread
I think that the Leinster Council made it clear last year that they have no objection to any county entering a "home & away" arrangement with Galway but that they will not force any county to enter such an agreement. Leinster Council want Galway to remain in Leinster for competition &...

Re: Offaly County Board Thread
Galway dont say who "turned down" their proposals re Westmeat & Offaly games/venues......... So to say OY CB turned them down is reaching....... They came into Leinster on the basis that their games would be played in Leinster and this is what Central & Leinster Councils agreed,,,...

Very Strange club representation on the Offaly Senior Team Brosna Gaels have a member on the team, Kinnitty have 3 members on the team, Seir Kieran have 3 members on the team. The strongest club in Offaly Kilcormac/Killoughey have just 2 subs.

Re: Offaly v Kerry, Leinster round robin, Sunday 22nd May
Out of curiosity, what was the official attendance at theKerry match ? 3450 Hopefully we double this for the Laois match Is the Laois game being played at Birr???. The attendance in Birr would probably exceed 7,000. I trust at this stage that Birr has approval to host an attendance in excess of 7,0...

Re: Offaly v Kerry, Leinster round robin, Sunday 22nd May
A win thank god. And the good news is that we have improved from the Carlow game. The bad news was Kerry were very poor. The good news was our short puck out were few and far between. The bad was landing ball down on top of Kevin Connelly vs a much bigger man. The good was our subs had a impact whe...

Re: Offaly v Westmeath, Mullingar, Sunday 1st May
At the end of 2014 the Co Board chairman gave an undertaking that he would contact each player who left the hurling panel in 2014 and report on his discussions and their reasons to the Co Board. Was this done? and if so what were his findings? Follow Up appears to be a major issue and is confirmed ...

Absolutely agree. Imagine what bringing fellas in now would do for team spirit. Éamonn Kelly has more cop on than that. And I'm backing Éamonn Kelly. There is no way lads who refused to join the panel and train with the lads for 6 months shhould be brought in less than 14 days before a vital champi...

Re: Offaly v Carlow, Leinster round robin Saturday 7th May
lets leave all this k/k bullshit behind us and go with what we have, i am sure if the kilcormac/killoughey lads wanted to hurl with offaly they would be in there. A number of their players have recently recovered from injuries. Many of their players would have been tired of hurling last October aft...

Re: Offaly v Carlow, Leinster round robin Saturday 7th May
Congratulations on the most vital victory Offaly has obtained in many years. Elimination from the "Liam Mc Carthy" would have destroyed Offaly hurling. While the victory was vital, it was also somewhat fortunate. Had Carlow converted their chances after half time, Offaly would have been pl...

Re: Offaly v Westmeath, Mullingar, Sunday 1st May
Oh dear Lord! Do your training on a laptop? Have team meetings on Skype? How the fuck is team spirit to be built on Skype? Do you even know what Skype is? If a lad can’t commit to the demands of inter-county hurling (or football for that matter) then he doesn’t commit. There can be no half measures...
