Re: Offaly versus Kildare 16th June 2012

I don't think that would be worst case scenario Biif. That would imply we gave it a right good go and could have won. Worst case scenario is that it plays out as the form book suggests it will. That being said, with all the nonsense going on, all we can as is that our lads go out and give everything...

Re: Offaly versus Kildare 16th June 2012

I presume Guilfoyle is going to play in the 'not at all predictable' withdrawn role and leave Casey and Anton inside? I have a sense of foreboding about this game I've never had for Offaly footballers at all.

Re: Offaly versus Kildare 16th June 2012

Apparently if he plays 2 minutes of hurling (seriously) for Coill Dubh, he will be free to play. But I don't think that is scheduled until after the Offaly game. I remember the last time we thought we had as poor a chance as this was probably back when Offaly played Meath. Probably in 1995 or therea...

Re: R.I.P Kieran McEvoy

and in fact I also remember Martin Dempsey from Laois as well, who died earlier this year. All of my vintage, and all played in that battle of Tullamore against Laois in the U21 Leinster Championship in 1994. Very sad to see them all taken so young. That was Martin Slevin, azoffaly. Sympathies to K...

Re: R.I.P Kieran McEvoy

Very sad to hear this news over the weekend. Kieran was a fine, fine footballer and a nice lad as well. I've met him a good few times since we finished playing together, and I could never get over the fact that he was still plugging away in the Black and Red. He was always quick with a chat, and alw...

Re: tom coffey new offaly manager

Best of luck to Tom. A good man, and I hope it works out for him. I fear it's a poisoned chalice this year, but if he can halt the slide and get some pride in the performances, he may convince people he deserves a proper shot at it.

Re: What wrong and whats right in Offaly gaa

As someone fairly involved in coaching here in Tipp, I am a fan of the Go Games concept, or at least a modified version of it. The biggest single element that I like about it is that EVERYONE plays. You will not develop without playing, and you have no idea at 6 or 8 who is going to be a good minor ...

Re: Offaly v Clare NHL 01/04/2012

And to be fair to David, he did very well. There must have been 7 or 8 1v1s in there in the second half and he won most of them. Either directly or by dispossessing the full forward. However, as we remarked, it was only going to take one time when he didn't win it, and it would be twines. So it prov...

Re: Best chipper in Offaly?

Marauders from the West (i.e. Supermacs) have taken over in Ferbane and while you know what you'll get, it isn't exactly inspiring stuff. Can't think of any great candidates out our part of the world to be honest, God help us but Trailermacs in Ballycumber might have the lead! LS, the generic Itali...

Re: Offaly vs Roscommon NFL Div 3 12th February 2012

What is the expectation here? Cooney is about 6 weeks into his job with a young panel and the majority of calls here are for the panel to get cut or Cooney to get cut. WTF??? Kildare, Longford and Roscommon have been with their managers for a number of years so have been built up physically over th...

Re: Offaly vs Roscommon NFL Div 3 12th February 2012

Just as a point of order, Anton was playing and training Sigerson I believe, so his fitness should be okay at this stage. No idea what the rest of the panel's conditioning is like.

Re: hamstring problems

One other thing is to get your back checked out. If you have any stiffness or soreness in your lower back it can affect the hammys (and vice versa). Stretching, deep, slow stretches is the best preventative measure. Obviously don't stretch too much if you are injured though :D

Re: Another crisis in Offaly football

This has been a shambles since they shafted Paul O'Kelly. How many managers have we had since 2003? Jesus we're a laughing stock. And it seems to be the default setting that the players 'have problems' with the management team. Who exactly would they not have problems with?
