Re: Man in Offaly jersey

Was that our friend in Thurles today at the league semis? Just after the Clare/Kilkenny game started an almighty shower struck and everyone on the town end terrace dashed for cover to the stand. Everyone that is except Man in Offaly jersey who stood behind the goals oblivious to the elements. Hardy ...

Re: Relegated

I saw a barbecue I bought last year in a shop today and it was E120 dearer than what I paid. Is that good news?

Re: What wrong and whats right in Offaly gaa

I would just like to make a couple of points about Go Games. I have been involved in a Dublin club for the past few years since my kids started playing. When these games were first introduced there was a lot of scepticism among mentors and this was partly because the rules were in need of developing...

Re: Offaly v Clare NHL 01/04/2012

Not too much to add to the previous posts except to say the handling from Offaly today was shocking. Clare seem to be emulating the Kilkenny way of catching high balls whereas we were dropping handy ones that were uncontested. The only forward to pose a threat in the early stages was Bergin and Sean...

Re: U21 Football Management

I wasn't at the games in Gracefield but I knew what style of football to expect from reading the previous posts. The point I would like to make is that there was obviously a plan B which was put into effect with about 15mins to go to full time. At that stage Anton was staying on the edge of the squa...

Re: Offaly v Laois NHL Round 1 26/2/12

Funny game. Sending off killed any slim Laois hopes. Having said that I felt the ref left some rough stuff go early on and Laois obviously felt they could take advantage and not get a red. In fact McEvoy only got a second yellow and the ref seemed unwilling to even give him that and the linesman sta...

Re: Interview with Sean Grennan

Yeah that was some tackle. I was talking to the Dublin Co. Board chairmans daughter the next day and she told me that Whelan was found wandering the street in Fairview later that evening and he didn't know where he was. Also I met Dublins team doctor about 10 years later and he brought the subject u...

Pat Roe for Laois

I see Pat Roe is the front runner for the Laois job. I can't believe they would be that stupid to appoint him after his performance with us. Of course the only reason he took the Offaly gig was because Laois wouldn't have him at that time. What has he done since failing to get the job in the first p...

Re: Offaly vs Tipperary SHC Qualifier Phase 3 17/07/2010

One of the things I love about this forum is the intelligent, informed debate on the various subjects. I can't stand hoganstand.com because of all the juvenile winding-up that goes on particularly when there are big derby games coming up. The quality of the spelling, grammar and syntax declines in p...

Re: Offaly vs Down SFC Qualifier Rnd 3 - 17/07/2010

I hate to say it but The Sunday Game had it spot on when they said that Offaly were only postponing the inevitable (after the Clare match). The whole qualifier system is geared towards giving the stronger counties more games and avoiding the possibility of the likes of Kerry being knocked out in the...

Re: A hundred years ago . . .

Anyone know who wrote the rhyme below? I remember it from primary school. It seems neither town was held in very high regard.

"Great bog of Allen, swallow down
That odious heap call'd Philipstown,
And if thy maw can swallow more
Pray take - and welcome - Tullamore.
