Re: First indication of football panel for 2009
They had big wins over Ferbane and Gracefield, both entirely down to Niall running the show. Take Niall out and Rhode were feck all better than either of those clubs, and neither of them are heavily represented on the county panel. Not being smart LS but is this the same team they beat in both the ...

Re: Next round of U-21 fixtures
St Michaels vs Wheery game def on monday even though Rhode Seniors have that league semi on Sunday. Its been a busy couple of days for the Rhode club with their u21s out last monday, their juniors beat tullamore in the division four final last night, their seniors out on sun, then the u21 out a day ...

Re: Kinnitty Vs Birr
First and foremost, well done to Birr on securing another county title and fair play to Kinnity for putting in a spirited performance but in fairness they never really looked like winning. Birr were capable of picking it up a gear at ease. The Hannify’s, Dylan Hayden (best score of the day), Watkins...

Re: HAS IT HAPPENED BEFORE
There is a junior C football champ, but four out of five aint bad! The key to Rhodes success has been the three national schools in rhode, croghan and ballybryan. Also, in Rhode you play football or you play nothing atal. (they have a soccer team but it has no negative impact on the football unlike ...

Re: Rhode V Tullamore
Anton should get a run if rhode are in trouble going on his performance last sunday for the jnrs. The result will be dependent on niall macs performance. If he's held Rhode are in serious trouble, they'll even admit this themselves. Tullamore are vastly improved on earlier games but whether they hav...

Re: Senior Football Relegation '08
Didnt hear much on this one apart from Baby Mason scoring a last minute goal for the reds. Its amazing how far Ferbane and Edenderry have fallen in ten years. From winning dowling cups on a regular basis to fighting for survival, its some turnaround. The likes of Tullamore and Rhode should take note...

Re: Senior Semi Finals
The thing is Bula, Rhode havent improved at all. They've scrapped along just doing enough, relying on Niall Mac to do his thing and on the oppositions inability to drive on and win the game when it was there for the taking (Shannonbridge, Ferbane and Gracefield were all in with a shout of winning th...

Senior Semi Finals
Decent game of football last sat evening in O’Connor Park. Gracefield started the liveliest and should really have been two-three points up at half time instead it was Rhode who went in ahead at the interval. Gracefield managed to draw level with them in the second half but then came the Niall Mac s...

Re: tullamore
Off day??? LS the fact that Ferbane even find themselves in a relegation battle suggests they've had more off days than on days this year. Ferbane are not a bad team, in fact they are one of the more competitive teams in a poor championship but they dont seem to be able to do it when it matters. Rho...

Re: Thin line
Con didnt beat Ferbane yest (although some of his decisions, particularly when the game was in the melting pot were questionable), an inability to kick scores from very favourable positions and giving hard won ball away cheaply cost them the game. Its a problem at all levels of the game, players can...

Re: Offaly team vs. Down
Actually I did study that particular novel LS, Boo Radley......what a legend!! But I still dont agree with you on our half forward line selection. Your argument is almost like trying to justify taking untested, unapproved drugs that you bought over the internet in the hope of curing some disease jus...

Re: Offaly team vs. Down
Very surprised that no concerns have been raised in relation to our half forward line. As far as I know (and I stand corrected, neither Jason Kelly or Niall Darby have played a minutes competitive football at senior inter county level. I hate bringing any negativity to the party esp ahead of this ex...

Re: Offaly vs Down Football Qualifier
Hocker your a gas man! You keep banging on about Jason Kelly, the simple fact of the matter is if he was worth his place on the team he would be on it. As far as I am aware the man has never started a senior champ game for Offaly (or many, if any league games). Now unless he's the best kept secret s...

Re: Offaly vs Down Football Qualifier
Just wondering LS, did ye beat Rhode? Were they flying? (Sizing up the opposition is never a good idea but I cant help it!)
As for the Down match, if we play with 1 goalkeeper, 6 backs, 2 midfielders and 6 forwards we have a chance. Such a revolutionary formation, I hope Roe is brave enough to try it!
