Re: Junior A Hurling Championship 2023
You'd imagine Ballinamere will account for Clodiagh Gaels given results to date. However, beyond that I think Brosna Gaels would be too strong for a Ballinamere second team. Unlike other years, Brosna Gaels football teams are all out reasonably early and so they will have way more prep and player a...

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023
Attendance reported in the media was 5,793, and the receipts reported in the Board's Annual Report published at Convention was €59,327. Do we have any idea what the attendance was last year of paid tickets ? Heard the figure 4,000 would that be roughly correct? 2022 attendance was just over 5,100. ...

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023
The Shinrone vs K/K county final will be the first back to back final consisting of the same teams since Birr and Coolderry played in 3 finals in row from 2004-2006.
Was that 2006 final the most recent final in SBP?

Re: Offaly Senior B Hurling Championship 2023
Impossible to see anything but a win for K/K today. Particularly with CG without Joey Keenaghan and Dylan Hyland.
If the day stays dry and calm it could get nasty for the Killeigh-Killurin combo.

Re: Junior A Hurling Championship 2023
K/K have massive talent in their first 2 teams and are favourites to win those championships.
But they have an average Junior A team. If Brosna Gaels have anything about them they should win this.

Re: Offaly Intermediate Club Hurling Championship 2023
Our Senior B Champions represent Offaly in the Leinster Intermediate Championship. However this has to be a club’s first team. Therefore one would think Offaly GAA will nominate Clodiagh Gaels to take part even if they lose the Senior B final to K/K. Carrig and Riverstown will play in the Leinster J...

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023
Not necessarily. Only recent precedent is around a decade ago when Rhode won the Intermediate football, Shamrocks were still relegated and there were 11 Senior clubs the following year. But there was no relegation at the end of that year. Nothing in the competition regulations on the matter. Do cla...

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023
Just some statistics ahead of today’s relegation final. Since Seir Kieran lost the 2017 county semi-final by a point to St Rynaghs this will be their 4th relegation final. 2018: Lost relegation final to Kinnitty in Birr 2019: Hurled in Senior B and won it out beating Clodiagh Gaels in final in Birr ...

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023
I’m probably over thinking this but could Ferbane’s win yesterday vs Rhode and possible championship success expedite the decline of Belmont hurling? Players might view football success as far more attainable in the short to medium term and decide to focus much more on that than hurling. I’m not pri...
