Re: Offaly GAA is in Some State
Sharp Eye, The open night in May was well organised. I can vouch for that as I was involved in it. BOTH managers agreed to bring in players from each panel, but only footballers turned up. The organisers could not do anymore than was done bar physically contacting each player and when managers say t...

Re: Un Cambio Es Bueno
Townman, It is very easy to castigate all of the County Board and blame all and sundry on it. However, I will remind you that one member of the County board is Andy Gallagher, the ONLY Offalyman to date to have managed Offaly to an All Ireland senior hurling title in 1981 and he is from North Offaly...

Re: Offaly Under 16
Unfortunately the U 16 Offaly footballers were beaten by one point in the final last night. The score was Sligo 1-13 to Offaly 0-15. Wasn't at the game but according to Sligo Gaa twitter account it was a great match, end to end stuff, could have gone either way and Offaly gave them an unreal game. C...

Re: Un Cambio Es Bueno
Plain of Herbs, I was so disappointed this morning when I read that article in the Tribune, and in particular the Coaching Officer's comments but not surprised in any way. It is a large part of the problem that some people from south Offaly believe that they, and ONLY they can play hurling. God help...

Re: Offaly GAA is in Some State
Dalemar, we do not have to go to Mullingar to train, the agreed ground for football training is Clara, and Banagher for hurling. Players are NOT left waiting for 2 months for expenses if they submit them properly. For too long these rubbish stories have been circulating. Players travel expenses came...

Re: CB wouldn't have thought of this
In reply to Offaly's Future, no you don't have to go to a county board meeting to get your answer, all you have to do is look at the County Board financial statement which is given out to clubs, press and everyone at Annual Convention and available to all!. In it it says that County Teams buses and ...

Re: County Board
Yes 'up the faithful' the county board is blamed a lot and in many cases in the wrong, but it is easier to do this instead of dealing with the real problem. Minors worried about 'gear' is just one example of where priorities are all wrong. There is 'a what's in it for me attitude 'among some panel m...

Re: The 'anonymous' Offaly team
As someone who has chased managers to name teams for programmes, I can say that the producers of last nights programme ( O'Loughlin Gaels) would have given until the last minute for a team list to be given. If Edenderry were able to do so in time why did the boys winners not do so. It would be up to...

They do have the facilities! Banagher, Clara and Ballinamere are fine facilities and suitable. O' Connor Park also. So no excuses.

Re:
Neither the county footballers or hurlers HAD to go outside the county to train, the management teams DECIDED to bring them, that was a CHOICE they made despiteBanagher, Clara and Ballinamere having fine facilities a and lighting which are available. Our ladies footballets won an All Ireland title l...

Re: Now is your chance
No truth in the rumour that the players were not told about the open night. Both managers were informed a couple of weeks beforehand and agreed to have players there.

Re: Now is your chance
In relation to those who say forget about the 1980's, they were glory days for hurling and football. I advise them to look at the 80 Leinster and 1981 All. Ireland hurling final or 1982 All Ireland Football final on DVD and say it's not important. we were in a recession then, times were tough and yet...

Re: Now is your chance
There is no truth in the rumour that County Players have no training gear and so were not in a position to be seen in public. The open night rolled out nationally by GAA headquarters and is happening in every county in Ireland this week and it is very disappointing that the hurlers did not participa...

Re: Now is your chance
The open night in O Connor Park was a great success and thanks to all who made it happen. Very disappointed at the lack of County Hurling players that supported the event as some small fans travelled from long distances to see their hero's. It was lovely to see the kids out on the pitch in the mini ...

Can babs and bond explain what he means by blaming tullamore when saying it all boils down to Tullamore in his post of 06/04/2014?
