Re: Walsh Cup 2016
That may be the photo that the majority of people will take from today Lone Shark. But for me the below photo is the one that I'll be taking from today. It wasn't pretty and certainly wasn't stylish with slips and breaks in play but a lot was to do with very difficult conditions. Today I saw 20 comm...

Re: Walsh Cup 2016
A big win for DIT over what was effectively the Kilkenny under-21s tonight (4-14 to 0-16) means that barring a twenty point defeat on Sunday, Offaly's place in the Walsh Cup semis is assured. Wexford will almost certainly be the opponents, and it looks like an away trip as well. I don't want to tak...

http://www.independent.ie/sport/gaelic-games/hurling/nolan-opts-out-of-faithful-setup-as-kelly-stresses-total-commitment-34355462.html Just after reading this article. Emmet Nolan has left the panel.........This is a huge blow for the Offaly set up. One of the few shining lights from underage over t...

Re: Walsh Cup 2016
Even though Offaly were kept at arms length there was encouraging aspects to this display. An unfortunate error for the Tipp goal and Offaly would have been a lot closer at the short whistle and may have had a bit more determination at the start of the 2nd half. Offaly never let Tipp get away from t...

Re: Brian Carroll retires
In my opinion probably our most gifted hurler of the last decade. As POTH mentioned those goals against Tipperary in 2006 stick out in my mind as great scores also. But also his performances which dragged Offaly through dirty games against lesser lights like Laois, Down and Antrims of the hurling wo...

Re: Walsh Cup 2016
Pretty disappointed that the game can't go ahead in SBP, but that's the way things go.

Re: Initial Offaly Hurling Squad
I'm guessing that no one seems to know. I certainly have no idea but would be very interested to get an insight to the provisional squad and how they are progressing.
Hopefully we'll do ourselves justice in the Walsh Cup and get a few half competitive games to see where we are at.

Re: K/K appointment
Pretty sure Danny Owens had a stint with Offaly at underage....I think he managed Offaly Minors with some help with Noel Russell from Birr without much success back in 2004. I could be wrong on the year but was definitely involved.

Initial Offaly Hurling Squad
With the start of the Walsh Cup only a little over 3 weeks away most county squads are back training no doubt. Has there been any word on a Provisional squad chosen by Eamon Kelly and his Management team for the pre-season competition and the league? I'd be interested to know any lads he might blood...

Re: Club Championships 2016
To be honest I have to say I'm very disappointed with this outcome as it does nothing to advance the set up of the county and also does nothing to ease the fixture congestion for many of our underage hurlers hurling at various levels with different squads teams schools/colleges, U21/Minor Club and U...

Re: 2016 Championship
3 home league games for Offaly in the hurling league. Games vs Laois and Limerick in OCP, game vs Kerry in SBP. Maybe it's just me but I nearly find that a bigger insult than having no games in SBP. There's no way the attendance of the Laois or Limerick games will come anywhere near 5,000. Just pla...

Re: 2016 Championship
JimBob has hit the nail on the head in every regard there. Even though I have voiced my opinions on the SBP Vs OCP debate, it is a small matter in the grand scheme of things within the state of Offaly hurling. And the fact that this is what we are debating really puts into perspective where we are. ...

Re: 2016 Championship
I think this thread is getting a little off topic and most of the latter posts probably belong in another thread. But I'll still give my opinion on what has been posted. Are we just gonna slag each other...? No point having a huge stadium with no hurlers to put in it. We were competitive when hurlin...

Re: 2016 Championship
Just seen the Walsh Cup fixtures were released. Offaly have been drawn in a group with DIT and Kilkenny, both home fixtures. I'm a little annoyed we drew the short straw and only have 3 teams in the group compared to the others who all have 4. GMIT are missing this year I noticed which is a shame as...

Re: Leinster Club Championship
No excuses, Coolderry were given a real lesson today. It was a tough game to watch from my own point of view.......as it highlighted the limitations I had suspected we had. We seemed to get a foot hold in the game during the 1st 10-15 mins where we competed well. But after that Cuala really came to ...
