Re: Footballers dropped?
Ah for jaysus sake lads, this is nothing short of farcical. Whats the problem here in all fairness??? Surely ta fook,a fella can go out for cupla jars when there's naer a sign of a match on the horizon. Although,I know of many on here who will counter by saying that it demonstrates a lack of commitme...

Re: JULY 4th 2009
Football is at 2.30, hurling at 7. Busy day but at least it's just about do-able. That's gonna be tight. Hopefully the crowd in Wexford Park is small for a quick escape. How long did it take people to get back to Offaly the night of the hurling? Took us one hour to get out of Wexford town, which was...

Re: Terrace for Saturday evening vs. Wexford
Given the crowd density on the uncovered stand, it appears to me that the 'near' end as we approach the ground will be the terrace at the botton of the picture. Given that the photo was taken in October we can take it that it was taken in mid-afternoon. By evening the sun will be behind the near te...

Re: 1995 Leinster Final on TG4
Them O' Connors were legends but Jesus did they take serious punishment in that match :!: Poor Eddie :) Very small men as well, Any one see the Pat O' Neill solo :?: He did it twice. Terrible athlete though. Would have been hard to comprehend back then that Offaly wouldn't win a Leinster again for ...

Re: Kildare vs Offaly - 2009 Football Championship
We could come up with a version of "The Fields of Athenry", only we could turn it into "the fields of Arden Rd"! Jayz, this could work lads! Will have to put in some thought on this, go on lads, a verse each! We're going to be greeted by the following chant in Portlaoise. "...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers Review 2008 – Part 1
*Ahem* This may well boil down to a matter of opinions, but in my case I would absolutely say yes that our hulers have improved as a team,as individuals and certainly in their mentality. Take the team as an example. When drawn agin' the previous years' finalists nobody gave 'em a chance,so much so th...

Played all grades with Offaly Honours 1 div 4 league medal Club Honours 4 Offaly senior championships Dublin Senior Champi...

Re: Rhode V Kilmacud
When I went to school we were always told that by our teacher (who was over the underage teams) that Matt Connor was the greatest ever footballer that Offaly produced and there would unlikely be anybody better ever! Connor is always spoken of in this regard. I've seen plenty of Matt on video and I ...

Re: HE'S GONE, THANK THE LORD
Tis good to see the back of him, thats for sure.
As for who I'd like to see take over - I don't have a clue, because I doubt very much that any manager with the requisite credentials would want to take on such notoriously difficult job.
Eugene McGee perhaps

Re: Golf Outing
Indeed.
A golf outing would be a super idea.
If it could be arranged I would certainly play.
A time, date and location would have to be decided upon a fortnight in advance if people are to show up.
Keep us all posted of any developments...

Re: Uibh Fhaili Support
The Deise fans that I met after the game were generally of a sound nature. They were giving out more about their own team,Dan Shanahan in particular, rather than directing expletives our way. Although,no matter what county you are dealing with there will always be a minority who don't adhere to the s...

Re: U/21 V Kilkenny goes ahead
Its a disgrace that this is allowed to happen.
Even some of the posters on upthedeise.com are appalled at such treatment.
It won't be changed and we'll just have to show 'em what we're made of.
Allez!

Re: brian carroll
Of course we've a chance, never think any different. If ya check out the Deise forums you'll see that they are betwixt and between when it comes to Saturday's game - they are unsure of what to expect from us,would prefer to be playing a ''bigger team'' such as Cork so that they will be better prepare...

Re: brian carroll
He hasn't been raising the white flag with every single strike, but for me its generally of an acceptable standard. I think that he's under huge pressure as our designated free-taker [much like Niall Mc with the big ball],so that may or may not be contributing to the odd miss here and there. It's his...
