Re: The bigger picture (Hurling and football)

Jimmy played County minor and im nearly 100% he got called up a few year back. Im sure if he was with rhode he would of been on the county team ages ago - typical county setup. On another note, it think its great news that his brother Phillip captained Offaly Minors this year. Gives alot of belief t...

Re: The bigger picture (Hurling and football)

The last Daingean man to play Senior league or championship was John Kenny, but he was with Tullamore at the time, so technically the last ''Daingean'' man to play was John Greene. Your other point about St.Vincents etc. To be honest i dont think there is one player from the parish good enough to pl...

Re: Intermediate Football Championship 2011

Clonbullogue 1.7 - 0.10 Raheen Poor game last night. Clonbullogue started the brighter but went in at half time 2 points down 6-4. Raheen then burst out into the second half and were 9-5 up with 15 minutes to go when clonbullogue had a man sent off. Raheen employed the extra man in defence,Clonbullo...

Re: Division 1 League Results.

Edenderry4Ever do i detect a bit of sour grapes? When yee had the players yee made them decide on what sport to play so they simply moved to a club that allowed them to play other sports. Are you from the same club that cried and whinged when the got relegated to intermediate a few years ago?? Your ...

Re: Offaly football champions

To my knowledge Walsh Island were solo when they win their titles in the 30s/40s, and also in the 70s/80s. There was a parish team called Éire Óg in the early 70s (Murt Connor's club is listed as Éire Óg in '71, '72 & '73) but after they realised they had sufficient numbers they went it alone w...

Re: offaly footballers of the year???

See the thing with Dooley is he's an excellent taker of a score.....give him the ball even 40 yards out and he'll have a shot (usually not too far off the mark with it either). He's full of confidence. Not every forward has that....plenty of current county players are shy in front of goal. Remember...

Re: Intermediate semi-finalists confirmed following weekend...

No major slaps. Bit of pushing after the match but that was more to do with emotion running high. Killeigh were a bad host club. Didn't provide linesman for the match and then coming into the losing dressing room telling us to hurry up cos some underage hurlers wanted to tog out. Durrow don't deserv...

Re: Intermediate semi-finalists confirmed following weekend...

Durrow didn't deserve to win. They carry on of some of the players was disgraceful. Spitting in players faces, if only the rest of the team took after their two midfielders gerathy and molloy. Two very sporting men. Noel cooney should hang up his boots. At 69 years old he should be sitting up in off...

Re: Intermediate championship

Raheen v Doon - Raheen to win it as Doon have been very poor this year St Rynaghs v Birr - Hard one to call. Two rival teams in hurling. Im gona say Birr on this one but could go either way Shannonbridge v Rhode - Im gona say rhode for this one. Shannonbridge missing there midfield and a good few of...

Re: Intermediate championship

Well in my opinion any of the intermediate teams could match Raheen and Rynaghs on most days, bar maybe Clara. If we do end up meeting Durrow in the quaters wed better give them another 14 point lead like we did earlier in the league. Best of luck to yee anyway, yee will beat clara with about 10 point...

Re: Intermediate championship

Blue and Yellow i think you are been biased. Shannonbridge wont get further than semi's. Lets just be honest,if we had of taking half of our scoring chances on sat (we hit 16 wides) yee would be in serious trouble now with only 1 point. Raheen are a serious outfit this year, dont realy know anyting a...
