Re: Offaly Hurling 2020

The job of defending one on one is now almost impossible. The ball carrier is permitted at least 8 steps, and if you do manage to hold him up the offload is a throw 9 times out of 10. The runner from deep now runs stright lines like a centre in rugby and nowadays a lot of players are dipping their h...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2020

Irish independent reporting we will have to give Kildare a walkover due to a covid positive test for a player in the panel. May i suggest getting together 24 lads from the clubs that were due to play the co finals. They were still in training up to very recently. I reckon we have enough quality in t...

Id say they are waiting to see if the government give the green light for crowds to go back to games. They'll know tomorrow

Re: Standard of Senior club hurling in Offaly

Newsflash! The earth is not flat. I don't see the logic in giving the ball away to the opposition. The difference is that in the old days you could give the ball away without consequence, because you'd get it back again 10 seconds later. Now, give the ball away and you are effectively conceding a s...

I'd say 13 of them would actually be a low number for Shinrone.

Re: Senior A and B Hurling Championships 2020

I reckon within 7 to 10 days Dublin will be in lockdown territory, going by the past 7 days growth there, but we may all be "in it together" again. One more week for the €€€€€ to be spent in the tourism sector. Hotels that have been full for the last two months will have few bookings from ...

Re: Senior A and B Hurling Championships 2020

we cannot honestly say Dublin wouldnt be locked down if Carroll meats was in Dublin, we are being a bit biassed in that assertion (I was myself on Friday evening to be honest)...I think they (NEPHT) would advise the lock down in any place, the building sites in Dublin were a little different in tha...

Re: Senior A and B Hurling Championships 2020

If this lockdown gets extended by another couple of weeks we should pull out of the intercounty championships. Rushing them off to get finished in time would be disrespectful to all the club players who have been training hard over the last few months. The club is the most important unit in the GAA ...

Re: Senior A and B Hurling Championships 2020

Well done to the lads bringing us the stream of the game. It was great to have a game to sit down and watch this evening. KK can be very happy with the way they pulled through in the end. Birr had a strong start, but seem to be over reliant on Eoin Cahill scoring from placed balls. Once KK cut out t...

Re: Senior A Hurling 2019

Does anyone know the ins and outs of Seir Kieran's proposal to have a 10 team SHC?? It seemed to get no traction? I'd presume the key gist was that Seir Kieran get to be senior again. The rest was minor detail, in their eyes at least. Facetiousness aside for the minute, that's pretty shameless stuf...

Timber your name is very apt. You have a chip on both shoulders with regards to players from "North" Offaly not getting a fair deal in the past. The facts speak for themselves. It's only in the last few years we have really seen clubs from there making a big impact in the A grades at under...

https://www.offalyexpress.ie/news/sport/317107/opinion-offaly-deserve-to-be-relegated-so-enough-with-the-whinging.html This guy is getting a bit too big for his boots. Who is he? Apart from.ignoring good performances in 2011 and 2012 I would have to agree with what he is saying. I find it embarrass...

Re: Newspaper Articles

All fundraising for the Faithful Fields was independent of the County Board. The county board were handed the keys on the day of the official opening. It was all spearheaded by Kieran Keenaghan, with others such as Duignan, Colm Cummins, I think, etc. The well is small in Offaly, but the faithful f...
