Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2015

To me coolderry and kk, both playing to their potental would be a great final and i think both have hurled to a much higher level than this rynagh team over the last 6 years . it annoys me to hear people say that if rynaghs or birr won it would be better for the county . Kilcormac/Killoughey gave a...

Re: Offaly GAA is in Some State

There has been a number of comments made recently on members of our Senior Football Panel spending the summer in the USA. I would like to know if our County Board Chairman met our County Senior Football & Hurling Panels earlier this year in order to ascertain the members of these panels who are ...

Re: Offaly GAA is in Some State

Apologies "On the fence", reply should have been directed at "Sharp Eye"! Indeed, lazy reading on my part. Our existing coaching regime has been in place for 12 years. Our senior hurling team was beaten by Laois and Clare. Our defeat by 20 points by Clare looks even more serious...

Re: Offaly GAA is in Some State

I think it is a great idea for the County Board to have 4 Part Time coaches in the county. it appears that the appointment of full time coaches has done little to help hurling in the county. We have had full time coaches for about 10 years and our County Senior Team's championship performances this ...

Re: New Hurling Manager

The first step in planning for the future should be a full report from Offaly Co Chairman Padraig Boland on all his meetings with the players who left the senior panel. We have to use the past 2 years as a learning experience and ensure that the same mistakes are not made again. Far too simple just ...

Re: U21 LHS Offaly v Wexford, O'Connor Park, 7.30pm

The performance of Cillian Kiely in the Offaly v Wexford Under 21 Game on Conor Mc Donald (who scored 1-10 last night) failed to win for him any real game time in our clash with Clare. Are we back to the situation that the club you are from decides whether you will get on the Offaly Senior Hurling T...

Re: Offaly Hurling where do we go from here?

It is true to say that Offaly hurling is in turmoil. This is greatly highlighted by recent performances at both senior and under 21 level. As for where the blame lies, well much discussion on this has centred around the county board and management. However I feel we must also look at the players and...

Re: Offaly Hurling where do we go from here?

Offaly County Board needs to make an immediate statement that Brian Whelehan & his selectors are no longer required. Every effort must be made in order to appoint the best possible team-management for the for Offaly Senior Hurling Team. We are now at a real danger of losing our Division 1B statu...

Re: Offaly vs Clare - 2015 Senior Hurling Qualifier R1

Offaly must use this game as a new team building exercise. Brian Cody started 4 players from the Kilkenny under 21 team that narrowly defeated Offaly in Tullamore two years ago. I think Brian Whelehan only started 3 of the Offaly team that played that day in the game against Laois. One must ask how ...

Re: Laois v Offaly – Leinster Hurling Quarter Final 7th Ju

Last autumn Padraig Boland, chairman of the Offaly Co Board undertook to personally contact each player who had left the Offaly Senior Hurling Panel in 2014. I trust that these contacts have taken place. I hope that the chairman will also contact every player who left the Offaly Senior Hurling Panel...

Re: Laois v Offaly – Leinster Hurling Quarter Final 7th Ju

Laois took control of the game in the 10 minutes at the end of the first half. Offaly management failed to address many of the issues that were clear to all at half time. No changes were made to the half back line which had failed badly. It is difficult to believe that no substitute was introduced i...

When did Cloghan last beat Ferbane in Senior football championship?
I think St Rynaghs Football Team defeated Ferbane in the championship in 2007.

Re: Limerick Vs Offaly 14 March 2015.

Two league wins away from home under Saturday night floodlights! Looks like Offaly would have been challenging for promotion to Division 1A if we could have played Wexford and Waterford (both failed to defeat Limerick) in Birr on Saturday nights under lights. Developing O'Connor Park was no help to...

Re: Offaly v Waterford, NHL, Saturday 7th March 2015

Can someone please tell me why Offaly Senior Hurling management are, generally, the last to name their team before League and Championship games? The Offaly GAA Website Team are probably from the North Offaly area as it is clear they have little or no interest in promoting the Offaly Senior Hurling...

Re: Offaly v Wexford, NHL, Sunday February 22nd 2015

Guys we are yet again going around in circles because of the bad appointment of managers.I will not question yesterdays commitment from players but would have to question or "game plan" or should I say the lack of one we had.Alot of guys seem to put a gloss on things on this website and n...
