Re: Next Offaly Senior Hurling Manager
Interesting points POTH. I find it implausible that JQ doesn't have a good idea why he wasn't kept on. Especially after a phone call. He is not the shy, retiring type who wouldn't have the balls to ask! In one sense it is admirable that the Westmeath CB took the initiative and made a tough call that...

Re: Next Offaly Senior Hurling Manager
Didn't Quaid wait to be told he hadn't got the Laois job before taking the Westmeath job?
Himself, Eamon Kelly, Kevin Ryan etc seem to be much of a muchness.

I think "at all costs" might be the relevant terms here!!!! Joe don't come cheap!Killeighman wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2019 8:48 am Joe Quaid is now out of a job so should he be got at all costs or should someone else be in line for it?

Re: Offaly's 2000 Minor & U21 lineouts
Percy's background in hurling is that he hurled in goals for Kinnitty for 20+ years, winning six Offaly SHCs and was Offaly sub goalkeeper for 1969's Leinster final and for a few years following that. Again, ended up down a wormhole. Is this the same Cllr. Clendennen (FG) who had some difficulty wi...

Re: Offaly's 2000 Minor & U21 lineouts
Boomcha inquired for the 2000 minor and U21 lineouts. Rather than hijack the Leinster Club hurling and football thread I’ll give this one of its own. The team for the 2000 Leinster Minor Final was:- Shane O’Connor; Adrian Clancy, Daniel Minnock, Barry Teehan; Enda Grimes, Joe Brady (capt.), Stephen...

Re: Next Offaly Senior Hurling Manager
Cheddar Plunkett? NIall Rigney? John Leahy (KK)? Ollie Canning? Conor Gleeson? Raymie Ryan? Liam Hodgins? Other than Leahy, I can't think of many internal candidates. Perhaps a return for Pat Fleury. Presume Joe McKenna isn't interested! Someone ambitious, intelligent and in a geographical position ...

Re:
I keep an eye on this forum without ever posting but have to have a say here. While I agree that Offaly's results have been poor of late, I wouldnt be too quick to blame McIntrye. Having hurled under him I can assure you that he is a very shrewd operator who leaves no stone unturned in the preparat...

Re: Joe McDonagh cup
Outside of atmosphere, the main problem with O' Connor Park is that Offaly haven't been fit enough to hurl there since around about Mike Macs time in charge.
If you think that the solution to not being fit enough is to move games to Birr, then Christy Ring might be the bottom of the slide after all.

I watched 10 minutes of that.
I don't consider myself a keyboard warrior, so I won't say much.
What I will say is that I couldn't figure out if it was sales pitch or an exercise in stating the obvious!

Re: Joe McDonagh cup
Only one way to ensure that Kerry end up where they belong now. Offaly will have had a chance to have a look at how Laois exploited them today and see what we can do and also how we can shut things down defensively too which will be vital. Kerry scored 1-21 which is a decent score against Laois. As...

Re: Offaly hurling panel for Antrim & Kerry games
Oh right! That would be nice alright if they weren’t too busy over the next few weeks and their Camross manager didn’t mind them slotting straight into the county team!! He's not a Camross man, he just wants to be! He is from Ballaghmore on the Tipp border. Kyle is his club but he ran away from the...

Re: Joe McDonagh cup
Not an Offaly man, but gutted to see the position they are in. One thing that needs to change before the trip to Kerry is all reference to the past and/or future. It is entirely irrelevant. The fact that Offaly were the "people's champions" for two decades is irrelevant. The consequences f...

Re: Senior A hurling 2018
A 5 week gap? Brian Cody perfected that wait between Leinster Finals and All Ireland Semis with Kilkenny but would be very difficult for Joachim Kelly et al to do it with club teams. I’d nearly take my chances in the Quarters! Cody had 32 high quality players. With probably 22-24 having a realistic...
