Re: In support of Offaly hurlers and footballers

I hear you POTH but I think you need to let your "experience" evaluate how to view Discussion Boards like this. It's easy to get annoyed at some posters who seem to lash out abuse and criticism from behind anonymous nicknames. But if we were all being nicey nicey, then wouldn't it all get ...

Re: new offaly constituency?

Funny how times change. Sinn Fein would have been well off the radar in Offaly until recently. John Carroll ran a couple of times in the 80s and got a few votes around the Birr area, but was down the rankings. As recently as the 1997 General Election, Sinn Fein didn't even run a candidate in Leix/O...

Re: Origins of Offaly colours

Anyone know when the new 2016 jersey is going into active use? It wasn't in Newbridge yesterday; the Board are hardly holding back on it, are they. I like it, from the traditional horizontal bands and the Carrolls' logo looks a nice match-in now. Is still the approved version or is it still on the d...

Re: 2016 National League Div 3

There was a decent bit of encouraging viewing for us in Newbridge yesterday. God love those unfortunate Lily-White supporters for putting up with a team that continues to kick wides with reckless abandon. They have that down to a fine art. Offaly struggled in Midfield, where Kildare seemed happy to ...

Re: Offaly vs Longford, Leinster SFC, Saturday 16/05/2015

Lord Oh Lord, what a frustrating and heart-wrenching game we follow. I think I felt such a mixture of emotions on Saturday night, it's hard to put some of it into words. Baffled. Disappointed. Annoyed. Frustrated. Puzzled. How did we lose this game from a position of such strength? I know my own lim...

Re: Offaly GAA is in Some State

I see croke park have taking over the o'connor park debt and the county board has redused the debt from 450,000 to 160,000. It's great work from the county boards. I would post the link from hogan stand but for some reason I can't Most of the HoganStand info seems to have some from the Tullamore Tr...

Re: Support for Longford Game

I'm looking forward to this game more than I have for a long time. I'm confident that our lads will do themselves proud, and give a display of Heart and Effort that we will cheer to the end.

Up the Faithful.

Sure that "re-fixture" would have to have been in Birr?

Re: Division 4 league final Offaly v Longford

A question that has been on my mind throughout this league is, are we in much of a different situation now than we were in 2 years ago? bare biffo responded perfectly to your well-posed question. We have been here before, so what makes this different o previous "false dawns"? Feck it, if ...

Re: Memories of an Offaly man in Croke Park

I have a memory of there being a photo showing the ball had crossed the line before Matt Ruth retrieved it. I could be wrong, it could be a dream/nightmare but I think Damien Martin was adamant that it was not his mistake. But maybe he should have cleared it anyway and that WAS his mistake. The pity...

Re: Division 4 league final Offaly v Longford

Feck it but I have to come straight out and say that Saturday night was a fantastic performance to witness as an Offaly fan. I haven't been as impressed probably since that great day in the sun in '97. The whole style of play was so impressive, direct fast running up-field, very few sideways passes ...

Re: U21 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP 2015

Great game, although I feared we had left it behind as Tullamore Óg crept back up late in the game. That would have been cruel as Vincents were far more dominant overall. Too many shots dropped short to the blue's keeper, in particular, and don't get me started on the Ref. It would be interesting to...

Re: U21 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP 2015

A big final on St.Patrick's Day, 'tis the stuff of dreams for every young Club player. I'll probably have to bring the family up Croghan Hill first. If we can chalk that off early enough, I might be able to fit in O'Connor Park in the mid-afternoon. Come on d'Parish, into the enemy heartland and sho...
