Re: Offaly v Westmeath, Mullingar, Sunday 1st May

Offaly Co Board should insist on Nominating Two additional county senior selectors who would help to get our better players back on the county panel and help with team selections. Team selections, match-ups etc have been very poor all year.

Re: Offaly v Westmeath, Mullingar, Sunday 1st May

Eamon Kelly said his target this year is to ensure that Offaly will not be playing in the Round Robin next year. Hope his target is not The Christy Ring.

Re: Offaly v Westmeath, Mullingar, Sunday 1st May

Anthony Cunningham on Midlands Radio 3 stated that Offaly has a strong senior club championship, but this is not being transferred to the senior county team. One has to be surprised that an intermediate club supplied the full back & centre back yesterday. The best senior club team in Offaly over...

Re: Offaly v Westmeath, Mullingar, Sunday 1st May

At the end of 2014 the Co Board chairman gave an undertaking that he would contact each player who left the hurling panel in 2014 and report on his discussions and their reasons to the Co Board. Was this done? and if so what were his findings?

Re: Offaly v Westmeath, Mullingar, Sunday 1st May

If our best players were on the pitch today, we must take our defeat and accept this is our standard. If, however, our best players were not on the pitch, then we have a serious management issue. It is the sign of good management when the best players are on the pitch, playing at their best. It is v...

Re: Offaly Club Hurling C'ship 2016

Can anyone tell me why there isn't another round of senior club matches this weekend?? All six matches, I'm presuming, were played at league pace with no real desire from any team to set a mark. All results were pretty much as expected and no team is any worse really or better off. So really we're ...

Re: Club Championships 2016

Club Hurling Championships start on Sunday. Players from the top four clubs have been training for over 2 months. Their next game will be in 3 months time. It is probable that the first real competitive game for our stronger clubs will be the County Quarter Final in September. In senior football all...

Re: Allianz Hurling League Roinn 1B 2016

The predictable reaction from the usual babies around here. It's the 4th of April. The clocks have only gone forward. And Offaly aren't going to encounter a team of Kilkenny's caliber for the foreseeable future again. Alot of work to do, but waaay to early to panic. Thanks to Offaly being involved ...

Re: Allianz Hurling League Roinn 1B 2016

I wonder why is it that Offaly routinely pick up serious trimmings from Kilkenny, yet teams of roughly our own level or slightly better than us can be far more competitive? We have a mental block with Kilkenny, just can't handle them. You are correct about other 1Bteams, look at Limerick, beat Dubl...

Re: Allianz Hurling League Roinn 1B 2016

Agreed Exiled. Still reckon we are in much better place and to a large extent, Eamon Kelly is doing a very good job. There is some positivity there at least unlike last 2 years which were disaster. Let this be the end of the Birr Tullamore debate. In fact playing Kerry in a small tight venue would ...

Re: Allianz Hurling League Roinn 1B 2016

I agree allstar2010 2016 league objective completed and onwards from here. The 1st, 7th and 22nd is the focus now. One month of prep and hopefully get a few players like Wynne and Mahon back into the team. Need to top this group and then its Galway OCP on 5th of June. League quarter final on April ...

Re: 2016 Offaly Club Draws

It appears from the Midland Tribune that the Na Fianna U 21 game was called off despite both teams & referee being on the pitch because the County Senior Hurling Management refused to allow a member of the Offaly senior hurling panel play a knock-out championship game for his club. We are all t...
