Re: Offaly GAA is in Some State
Ridiculous statement. I would really worry if its all people like you with that mind set on these committee's. Kildare setup their own gym for 20,000 and got all players to help with the decorating, flooring, etc. They got a building in the k club for free. I know of plenty of people who would offe...

Re: Offaly GAA is in Some State
Put a plan together and submit it to Leinster Council and Central Council. If funding is refused, then you can talk about the haves and have nots. I suppose there is a prewritten plan aswell that all you have to do is fill in the blanks? Get real, somebody would have to dedicate a lot of time, just...

Re: Offaly GAA is in Some State
Dublin clubs having full time GPOs means they have an instant link with the local schools with the same coach going into the school and being available on eg a Saturday morning to run the coaching in the club. Tell you what. You give up your job and income and do it. no? Well organise the funds for...

Re: Offaly GAA is in Some State
We are not effing Dublin and never will be. Why don't we compare ourselves to something realistic and attainable. It's all but professional but in name? Then why are we bothering our holes talking about it? If we don't have the money and never will have the money (or population) to run things the sa...

Re: Offaly GAA is in Some State
Dalemar, we do not have to go to Mullingar to train, the agreed ground for football training is Clara, and Banagher for hurling. Players are NOT left waiting for 2 months for expenses if they submit them properly. For too long these rubbish stories have been circulating. Players travel expenses cam...

Re: Offaly GAA is in Some State
We have to take the 'pressure' from the adult grades and not be expecting to win games. We should go to the matches with a sense of 'pride' that at least we are here and the players have 'thanklessly' trained very hard since last September. We have given 'everything' we had and left 'nothing' on th...

Duel Players
It has probably been discussed before but anyway. How can 3 Cork players tog out for both codes when here in Offaly it is an impossiblity?? Cork are mentioned as serious All Ireland contenders whereas we are... not. Has the subject every been broached seriously with the County Board actually facilit...

Re: Administrator
Not if you were to read some of the other posters on this forum. They tell you if you want to help you can - but when you offer to help your not wanted! I just cant for the life of me see how they will waste money on an administrator when the money could be used in a far better way. It sounds like ...

Re: Round 1 Qualifiers: Offaly v Wicklow
Ken Casey definitely gone, but not sure whether he had walked from the panel first before he picked up suspected cruciate injury with Lomans. Bad and all as it may seem, after a dubious transfer from his home club to across the border, there might not be too much sympathy up around the Hill. Other ...

Re: Administrator
I would plead with the county board and the county delegates to not waste money on employing an administrator. I am highly skilled in I.T and would happily do this for free. The money you are going to waste would pay for a sports management firm or HR firm to conduct a review of Offaly Gaa and also...

Re: Offaly v Longford
On the fitness, Does anybody think that? A) Offaly did a lot more running in the first than Longford B) Longford were happy to let them do that Pair Offalys over exhuberance on getting forward with Longford happy to let them and Longfords better sub bench, made Longford look a lot fitter. By over ex...

Re: Offaly v Longford
To add to the point of Offaly not winning the kick-outs and us not winning a break. Longford were not able to compete when both were going to catch it, Smith or Carroll or Guilfoyle or somebody else either caught it or broke it the desired way. Longford changed to short, that didnt work either so th...

Re: football championship 2014
Also, I was wondering about this recently, is there something in the Offaly psyche where we don't take defeat as badly. We see it with county teams - they can go out one week and get hockeyed and just brush it off, and equally we saw what happened with Tullamore in the SFC last year. Rhode had wipe...
